Historia
The Earth's resources are dwindling. The solution is The Sleep: periods of hibernation imposed on those who remain with only a Janitor to watch over the sleepers. In the sleeping city, elderly Ben struggles with his limited waking time and the disease that is stealing his wife from him. Outside, lonely Janitor Peruzzi craves the family he never knew. Around them both, dissatisfaction is growing. The city is about to wake.

Historia
For years now, win-win has been the paradigm for business negotiation. But today, win-win is just the seductive mantra used by the toughest negotiators to get the other side to compromise unnecessarily, early, and often. Win-win negotiations play to your emotions and take advantage of your instinct and desire to make the deal. Start with No introduces a system of decision-based negotiation that teaches you how to understand and control these emotions.

Thanks Chris Voss!
Revisado: 10-03-20
Chris Voss mentions this book in his “never split the difference” and when an author quotes another book I usually check it out. I’m very happy I did so in this case.
My wait of about 4 years for the audible version was worth it! Actually no. I was dumb enough to wait. I should’ve done the heavy lifting and read this book right after Voss’s book.
The structure is solid, the narration great and the help in applying the lessons learned exemplary. If you care about becoming a better negotiator, don’t say no to this book.

Historia
Low-level entertainment lawyer Nick Carter thinks it's a prank, not an alien encounter, when a redheaded mullah and a curvaceous nun show up at his office. But Frampton and Carly are highly advanced (if bumbling) extraterrestrials. And boy, do they have news. The entire cosmos, they tell him, has been hopelessly hooked on humanity's music ever since "Year Zero" (1977 to us), when American pop songs first reached alien ears. This addiction has driven a vast intergalactic society to commit the biggest copyright violation since the Big Bang.

Historia
Not too long from today, a new, highly contagious virus makes its way across the globe. Most who get sick experience nothing worse than flu, fever, and headaches. But for the unlucky one percent - and nearly five million souls in the United States alone - the disease causes "Lock In": Victims fully awake and aware, but unable to move or respond to stimulus. The disease affects young, old, rich, poor, people of every color and creed. The world changes to meet the challenge.

I said She said I said she said I said she said
Revisado: 11-18-19
I really wanted to like this book, the story has an interesting baseline and there are some enjoyable twists and turns.... that said (pun intended) the author punctuates each encounter with “I said” and then “she said”. This is so ubiquitous that it got really annoying. I love Wil Wheaton’s performances but even his amazing skill couldn’t hide this annoying (constantly returning) detail. I’m amazed that the editor of the book didn’t catch this.

Aren has lived by the rules all his life. He's never questioned it; that's just the way things are. But then his father is executed for treason, and he and his best friend, Cade, are thrown into a prison mine, doomed to work until they drop. Unless they can somehow break free.... But what lies beyond the prison walls is more terrifying still. The Monarchs, the most powerful sacred artists on Cradle, rule with unquestioned authority. They are mysterious and distant, and catching a glimpse of one is privilege enough for a lifetime. To meet one is to come face-to-face with a legend. Probably the most important book of our generation
Revisado: 09-24-19
Edward Snowden's book provides a clear and engrossing look into his beliefs and why he decided to act upon them. Not only that, it's a great incentive for us to care too. If you're familiar with the Milgram experiment (something which I believe is extremely relevant for our time) I am personally extremely happy that a guy like him decided not to mechanically follow orders but to stand up and say no.
Also, hello NSA (and any other agency who is abusing powers in this way), I sincerely hope that you have many more Edwards amongst your staff!

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.
