A Fantastic End to a Wonderful Series
Revisado: 11-05-21
Graham and Mac are taking a vacation in New Mexico where Mac grew up. They find a dead woman and a possible lead of who Horace is and then learn of a friend’s passing when they get back home. Something sounds odd to Mac about Elizabeth’s passing, especially since that was how her own mother died.
Things keep moving as the Soul Searchers find new crew to replace those that have left. Mac is learning more about astral projection and finds she has brought a ghost back with her from her trip to New Mexico. But she is still plagued by Horace and having a harder and harder time trying to get some restful sleep. Mac is getting closer to the breaking point and it’s looking like Horace may just win.
At the end of Donn’s Shadow, I was worried that with the team breaking up and Mac going to New Mexico that they would be done. But don’t worry, this is just another stepping stone on the way to the finally. Poor Mac, I really thought she was going to snap and be lost to Horace. All is not lost, just keep reading.
Jessica McEvoy does a fantastic job narrating this story. She has an amazing voice and great pace. I can’t wait to find other books that she narrates.
I really liked this series and recommend it to anyone that is looking for a paranormal cozy mystery. I do recommend reading it from the beginning to get the full experience.

The Ghostly Thrills Continue
Revisado: 11-02-21
It’s been about one year since Mac Clair discovered that she is a psychic. Her job with Soul Searchers is going well and her relationship with Graham is going well. But when famous debunker Raziel sets his eyes on the Soul Searchers things are going to get heated. But Mac discovering another dead body puts her in the person of interest’s category again.
Mac is also up against a powerful ghost that directs her to a dybbuk box. The discovery of this book seems to put a curse on Mac and her friends. As everything seems to be crashing down around her it’s up to Mac to find the truth and learn to ask for help.
I really like this series and I think Jessica McEvoy breathes life to the characters and the story. Things seem to be going so well for the Soul Searchers and Mac. But this is going to change quickly. A séance brings a new and powerful spirit to Mac’s attention, and it seems he likes to follow her around. He also gets her mixed up with a cursed object that seems to be breaking up her life.
I enjoyed how things are going to Mac, but I did get frustrated by her naivety. I understand she wants to think the best of people, but it almost gets her killed. I still say Striker is my favorite character, but I have a soft spot for torties. Thank goodness she is there to guide Mac to what is under her nose.
I’m kind of torn on the ending. I understand how this is going to progress, but I worry about how this is going to work out in the next book. I guess I just need to read it to see.
If you are looking for a good, cozy, paranormal mystery you need to check this series out. Although you could start with this book, I would recommend starting at the Donn’s Hill so you don’t miss anything.

A Fantastic New Paranormal Cozy Mystery
Revisado: 10-28-21
Mackenzie Clair is starting over after catching her boyfriend with his assistant. She remembered Donn’s Hill from her childhood with her mother and decided to start over there. After a rough start she finds a great apartment, a tortoiseshell kitty, and an odd job with Soul Searchers, a local paranormal research group/television show.
But Mac seems to have creepy things happening around her and is seeing ghosts. But when the body of a very prominent resident, Tom Bishop is discovered, things take a turn for the worst. It seems he was involved in scrupulous dealings.
I loved this story! Mac is a good person that has found herself in hard times. I loved the whole paranormal abilities and festival. That would be a blast to attend. Of course, I was left guessing who the killer was and I kind of felt sorry for her too. It doesn’t make what she did right, but I could understand part of it. I also felt Jessica McEvoy did a fantastic job of narrating this story. She drew me right in and didn’t let me go until the end.
I strongly recommend this mystery to those that like a little paranormal twist to a mystery. I’m really excited that I signed up to review all three books. I can’t wait to jump into Donn’s Shadow.

An Unknown Goddess Has to Save the Universe
Revisado: 06-15-21
A mysterious Olympian god has found herself trapped in a dryad’s body. It seems that she answered a prayer and wound up there. She has no idea where or when she is, all she wants to do is go back to her place among the stars.
What she finds is that Niflheim and Haddes has been joined together and the world tree cut down. The new ruler is bent on making this a place of punishment. The god has to hide her identity for safety as she travels the world. She has to be there for a reason but it’s unknown to her.
At the same time the other gods in this world are being punished in their own way but are scheming like normal. It’s up to the unknown god to stop the new ruler and save the other Wyrd. But how can she do this when she has no memories that can help.
This was an interesting read. I liked the variety of gods, not just from one culture. I admit that I did get frustrated with the unknown goddess. I understand she doesn’t know where she is but she sure was selfish and just wanted to go back to hiding in the stars.
I loved Sarah Kempton’s narration. I was drawn into the story and enjoyed how each character had their own voice. It was a good story and had a perfect twist ending. I am curious to read the next book to see where we end up next.

A Battle to the End
Revisado: 06-14-21
Liara has freed Khariton from his mirror and is now his vessel. He is intent on using her power to destroy the world. She is heartbroken because she was trying to help him and doesn’t want the war he is going to cause. Nagarath decides to take her to his home in England to try to help her. But learns that the possession is worse than he feared.
At the same time, we find Kresimir who was sent to Merlin by Nagarath. Merlin may have been cursed but is still alive and is trying to fulfill a prophecy about Nagarath and Liara. But when Liara shows up on his doorstop for help he realizes that he might not be a match for Khariton anymore and might not be able to help.
I love how Liara and Nagarath have finally realized their feelings for each other, but Liara can’t have that with how fast Khariton is taking control. Nagarath has taken just to try to help Liara and it looks like he might not recover from his actions. But I hoped that he could break Liara’s spell in time or at the very least save her.
I like how this wrapped everything together and I loved the ending. This has been a good read and recommend this series. I think the reader will enjoy the journey. I will be keeping my eyes open for other books from M.K. Wiseman.

Race for a Magical Mirror
Revisado: 06-14-21
After his battle with Nagarath and Liara, Anisthe has decided to travel to France. It seems he is in possession of a magical mirror that is supposed to hold the magic of famed wizard Khariton. When Nagarath and Liara learn of this it becomes a race to get to the mirror first.
Along the way we also meet the third student that Nagarth and Anisthe trained with, Amsalla. She has a habit of being in the middle of everything and is the king’s wizard. She meets up with Nagarath and Liara and it’s clear that she wants to start some trouble between the two. She is also watching Anisthe but doesn’t realize that his assistant, Domagoj has got her in his sights too.
Everyone is trying to get to the mirror first and no one can be trusted. It feels like everyone is out to get each other and poor Liara doesn’t understand the fight she finds herself in. I feel bad for her but at the same time I understand how far she has come since her life in Dvigrad.
I liked this story better than the Bookminder because we started meeting more people and exploring the country. Amsalla just irritated me and there were times that I wanted to slap Nagarath upside the head for his actions/thoughts.
I’m curious to see how things are going to transpire in The Fatewreaker. Thank goodness I have everything ready to hop into it.

A Good Start to a New Magical Series
Revisado: 06-14-21
Liara was born of magic and has been treated horribly for most of her life by the people of the village of Dvigrad. She has been living at the church until it is discovered that she has been stealing from people and using magic. She is banished but saved by the mage Nagarath but Nagarath makes it clear that he is not going to teach her magic.
They live at the crumbling castle Parentino which has its own secrets. Nagarath comes to care for Liara and starts teaching her a little magic. But someone is determined to find both of them, a powerful mage that is determined to use Liara’s power for his own good.
Liara has been looked down on her most of her sixteen years of her life. Because of this she tends to be aloof and on her own but is driven to learn magic for revenge. It’s a little hard to like Liara because of her constant whining and her focus. She constantly complains and at some parts I was about done with her.
Nagarath has his own secrets but is eaten by guilt over something that happened in the past. I commend him for taking on Liara when he wasn’t really planning on it. He has more patience than I do. But I was getting frustrated when he is trying to protect both of them but refusing to explain.
This is a rough start to the series, but I do see the potential in it. I am excited to start The Kithseeker. I think having Liara and Nagarath work together is going to be the glue to the loose ends.

Captivating New Series
Revisado: 04-20-21
Quincy and Lilly Swansong live in a world where God has left our world and all the creatures of darkness have taken over. Both are the heirs of famous horror author WA Swansong. Because of their inheritance it has fallen into their laps to protect the world from the coming destruction.
But they are not the only ones that know of the mysterious inheritance. A shadow organization is determined to stop them. From a dark wizard to torturing a friend they will do whatever it takes to destroy the world.
Quincy is a college kid and Lilly works in a pet store that has seen combat. They only have each other and are determined to get to the end of this mystery inheritance. They happen upon a fire demon, Tim, that helps them along with a couple others.
There are all kinds of creatures from stories, legends and the dark corners of the mind that make an appearance. I personally loved the sand worm and Lilly mentioning that she knew she shouldn’t have told people to release them after they get to a certain size.
I really enjoyed this story. There was a ton of sarcastic humor and horror to keep me entertained the whole time. Marcus Rothenberg did an amazing job narrating the story and kept me hooked. I am so ready to dive into the next book in the series and now have to impatiently wait.

An Interesting Concept
Revisado: 04-13-21
Daniel Marco is nineteen and ready to start a musical career. Unfortunately just before a performance he blacks out and carves some numbers into his arm. Then he severely beats up a man that was hitting a woman. Although he is worried that he is taking after his abusive father truth is stranger than fiction.
Daniel learns that at a British asylum they are working or past lives and bringing them into the present. Daniel meets Ainsley Fairfax, who he is instantly drawn to. As he is going through the motions to being his past life into the present he learns that Ainsley and he are connected and they have a mystery to solve.
I am torn on how to rate this book. It skims the surface of the whole past lives concept and I’m still not really sure what is going on. I also understand how Daniel is worried that he is going to lose his current life a stranger in the past and is not really a willing participant.
But I have so say that I get it that he doesn’t want to be part of this life. He complains about it all the time. I had a hard time getting into the story because of this. Alex Black does a great job narrating the story but I lost interest and didn’t really care how it ended half way into the story. Now the mystery was great and I think that is what hooked me to finish the book.
Overall this is not what I was expecting for the story and I loved part of it. Unfortunately I just got bored with Daniel and him fighting his past so hard. I do think some people might just love this book but for me it was a meh story.

A Delightful Continuation of Alice in Wonderland
Revisado: 03-28-21
Alice is now 15 years old and her parents are worried about her and decide enough is enough. She keeps talking about Wonderland and is now being taken to various doctors. The latest doctor has decided that he is going to commit her to the asylum. But after eight months of treatment Alice is no closer to being cured. She is then moved to another, nicer facility that has a new method of dealing with troubled patients.
At the same time in Wonderland, there is a plot to end the Queen’s life and the White Rabbit needs Alice’s help so he helps her escape. What follows is a Wonderland adventure full of lies, treachery, a little love, and a Queen that needs to be stopped.
I am a huge Alice in Wonderland fan and couldn’t say no when I was offered this book to read. I really enjoyed the story and the romp through Wonderland. Plus having an inside look into Rosamund’s mind really shows her level of madness.
Caroline Holmes does a fantastic job of narrating this. She had a great variety of characters and I had a hard time walking away from this story because of it and her narrations.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend you check it out. It is a great addition to the various Wonderland stories and I loved it. I can’t wait to read more from H.J. Ramsay.
