Historia
A decidedly unusual pairing, half-breed sorceress Armecia and her constantly stoned sidekick, Sir Leonard of Savhael, join forces with a cowardly church vassal and a giantess posing as a nun. Their quest? To catch and kill Zeigfried, a fiery - if not too fearsome - dragon.

Not as good as I expected
Revisado: 08-30-18
I had trouble understanding the narrator's speech patterns. Accent also seemed strange. The plot unfolds very slowly with a lot of unnecessary conversation. After enjoying the Highlander series I was very dissapointed.

Wonderful character
Revisado: 11-15-17
Lift is a fascinating character, I couldn't stop listening. The by play between she and Wendell are so funny I couldn't stop laughing. Definitely a must read.

Alternate History with Magic
Revisado: 09-14-16
Interesting idea - what would have happened if King Richart III had killed Henry Tudor instead of the other way. The names of the main characters are changed but they can be recognized as historical people. There is a strong element of magic which adds to the story. Well written and the reader is excellent.

overall not to my liking
Revisado: 05-31-16
The endless long elvish names were confusing to my ears. The reader did a marvelous job of reading them. By the end the elves had wrecked their ecology so badly that I started rooting for the Endarken. I couldn't sympathise with the elves at all by the end.

Somewhat tedious
Revisado: 09-10-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Only if they had already read the other books, and the first book of this series.
What did you like best about this story?
Too much detail in battles, I don't need to hear about every blow. Almost seems as if the book is being padded out with excess words.
The ending just leads into the next series.
What didn’t you like about Richard Ferrone’s performance?
I didn't like the narration, and he pronounces some of the names so differently I thought they were different people for a while.

Way too weird
Revisado: 05-11-11
Throughout this series it seems as if the author is determined to drag in every mythical creature, event, and person possible. Even to the point of making actual historical people into fantasies. I managed to listen to the books to this point, but I can't stand to hear any more. The rest of the series will have to go on without me.

Ayla has been chosen as an acolyte and has embarked on the arduous task of training to become a spiritual leader.

Please - no more "Mother's Song"
Revisado: 05-11-11
This book is tedious to the point of despair. I really was sick of hearing the Mother's song repeated over and over, and adding an additional verse only made it worse. The endless descriptions of a pagan religion and social customs which were practised 20,000 years ago are totally superfluous, and how can the author verify that any of the descriptions have any founding in reality.
I have been waiting for a number of books to find out what happens when Ayla's Clan son meets her Other's son, but that one never arrives. Only a vague dream is meant to wrap up that thread, very disapointing. Maybe there will be another child, maybe not. All in all, a very unsatisfactory ending to the series, which had five really good books.

At the beginning of the story I did not think I would like it. Within minutes I was hooked. Definetly worth it.
