Historia
Winter has come to North Carolina and, with it, a drop in crime. Freed from a heavy work schedule, Tempe Brennan is content to dote on her daughter Katy, finally returned to civilian life from the army. But when mother and daughter meet at Tempe’s place one night, they find a box on the back porch. Inside: a very fresh human eyeball.

Easier than usual to solve
Revisado: 09-06-22
I’m a huge fan of the Temperance Brennan books, and normally the reveals (of the killer) are a little more surprising. I was able to figure this one out at about 3/4th of the way through. I love this narrator because I think she does a phenomenal job with the individual voices, as well as the French dialect/accent. It’s a great book all around.

Historia
Margot Cary has spent her life immersed in everything Lake Sackett is not. As an elite event planner, Margot's rubbed elbows with the cream of Chicago society and made elegance and glamour her business. She's riding high until one event goes tragically, spectacularly wrong. Now she's blackballed by the gala set and in dire need of a fresh start - and apparently the McCreadys are in need of an event planner with a tarnished reputation.

Great story but...
Revisado: 03-11-20
Very well written for a book that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The build-up was great, allowing us to get a feel for the personalities of each character. The only downside I feel is that the last bit of the book wrapped up in a neat little bow waaaay too quickly after the “peak” of the story. Other than that, I would definitely recommend it.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Slow burn mystery
Revisado: 07-26-19
Told from 2 separate points of view, this take on a murder mystery explores the complexity of the psyche and how the past can affect a person unconsciously. It's a slow burn detective-style mystery that holds on to you until the very end where it violently shakes you to the core & and leaves you with a multitude of emotions all fighting for control at the same time.

Total mystery until the end!
Revisado: 07-16-19
There’s crude language & some disturbing or adult imagery but the story is expertly woven with a resolution so full of twists & turns, I couldn’t tear myself away from it! This is why Tammy Hoag is one of my favorite authors!

I laughed; I cried
Revisado: 05-23-17
Kelly delivers such inspiration & snarky humor in this account of her life experiences and the wisdom she's gained from it. I loved every minute of it!
