Historia
On January 14, 2018, a 17-year-old girl climbed out of the window of her Perris, California home and dialed 911 with shaking fingers. Struggling to stay calm, she told the operator that she and her 12 siblings - ranging in age from two to 29 - were being abused by their parents. When the dispatcher asked for her address, the girl hesitated. "I've never been out," she stammered.

excellent insight into two disturbed individuals who should have never been parents. when backwoods breeding and incest gets out of the country and moves to Suburban California. torturing and abusing their children.
The worst pick for a narrator you could ever pick. a story that starts in West Virginia with hillbillies and ends in California is read by a guy with a heavy English accent... I was losing my fu#k!ng mind

excellent story and well organized together

I'm sitting wondering how a man can get life in prison for shoddy circumstantial evidence. there is no doubt that this man was a terrible husband and was not ready to be married. But there is nothing linking him to this crime. After the state didn't get him the first time they went back after him and used a civil lawsuit before the trial to go after him. we are all entitled to our own opinion but somebody being an asshole shouldn't be enough to convict them of murder. There are a lot of questions that weren't answered but that shouldn't sit on the plate of the accused. I feel terrible for both families but what a gripping story

Epstein is a scumbag
Revisado: 07-30-19
How the elite traffick young kids into the sex trade. Everyone from the Clinton's to the British family are involved and this is just a glimpse because Patterson is friends with Hill and Bill. Even the states attorney, that could have crippled the flow of young women was somehow caught up in the blackmail. He sold his soul to keep Epstein from doing hard time. It's a sick world but we are too busy calling people "conspiracy theorists " when we saw pizzagate (Wikileaks). This stuff is real and I hope the get the Podesta's next

In 2014, Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes was widely seen as the next Steve Jobs: a brilliant Stanford dropout whose startup “unicorn” promised to revolutionize the medical industry with its breakthrough device, which performed the whole range of laboratory tests from a single drop of blood. Backed by investors such as Larry Ellison and Tim Draper, Theranos sold shares in a fundraising round that valued the company at more than $9 billion, putting Holmes’s worth at an estimated $4.5 billion.

the best True Crime book I ever read
Revisado: 06-17-18
this is one of the best stories I've ever gotten into. it takes you a long and makes you feel the fear and intimidation of the employees working for two sociopaths. I only hope there's a second part to this book where we get to see people put in prison. How she escapes unscathed leaves me with too many questions. it allows the regular person to see how lobbyists have ruined this country with having politicians in their back pocket. the last I had heard Elizabeth Holmes was looking for another CEO job and I feel like she should be behind bars.
unlike a normal True Crime where you go along and hear the story of other people solving the mystery. You get to hear it from the investigators mouth and how he Unwound a Web of Lies. hats off to the employees that Denton get intimidated by this companies tactics of strong-arming people into exposing the truth. this is one story you will not stop listening to. It made it 500 mile trip go really fast

Historia
As lead singer and songwriter for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis has lived life on the razor's edge. Much has been written about him, but until now we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. In Scar Tissue, Kiedis proves himself to be as compelling a memoirist as he is a lyricist, giving us a searingly honest account of the life from which his music has evolved.

Not like the Netflix story. Author is Arrogant
Revisado: 05-19-18
Douglas is really arrogant and self congratulating. He isn't one to point out any help by The lowly police. He saves The day for these idiots because of his knowledge. I was expecting this insite maybe of this humble agent finding his niche . It did allow me to stumble on to other books and cases so I'm thankful for that.
The reader annoyed the hell out of me with the "just the facts mam" swagger. I hate Lt. Kendra on Discovery channel and he was like listening to that idiot. I finished it because I bought it. I think a cop will like it if you have that us against the world attitude. Happy listening!

The case went cold - until six years later when the victim's son Mark came upon the story of Nancy Ludwig's slaying.
