Historia
Hell has come to claim the last mortal universe. A bleeding tower has burst through the 24-Hour Fitness parking lot. Demons circle the city of San Diego. One name is called to challenge Lucifer's Champion: Greg Maxwell. Who is Greg Maxwell? Imagine the person you would want to fight for humanity's survival. Now think of the opposite person. Now think of that person's dad. Cocaine. Talking animals. Weekend trips to Cape Cod. Secret JFK sex videos.

Delightfully bizarre
Revisado: 06-25-23
I never knew where this story was going to go, in the best way possible. Narration was great, the author mentions a background in improvisation and it is reflected in his ability to voice act.
Also, any story that has a human/sentient animal orgy (where the narrator is very careful to state that there the humans did not bang the animals) deserves to outsell the Bible.

A fresh take on military sci-fi
Revisado: 09-21-22
Both the narrator and the writing was great, avoids over used tropes in the genre. The beginning didn't initially grab me, but I was quickly sucked in after that

Historia
Captain Jackson Wolfe never thought he'd see the end of the Phage War in his lifetime. The enemy was too powerful, too numerous, and utterly determined to exterminate humanity. But the appearance of a new ally in the fight has changed all of that. For the first time since the original incursion, Wolfe thinks that maybe there's a chance to stop their implacable enemy before they have the chance to wipe out any more human planets.

A 'meh' ending.
Revisado: 10-07-18
Wraps everything up, but as predictably as possible. Not a terrible end to a trilogy, but each novel is slightly weaker than the last.

Terribly written characters
Revisado: 10-23-17
*Spoilers in this review*
The book was poorly written, the main character was a typical Mary Sue archetype. He's literally is described as a master in every act he does. In addition, women are practically tearing their clothes off to be with him.
The interpersonal conflicts could all be solved if the characters stopped to talk for five minutes... on a journey that covers week's. It's just a series of misunderstandings and miscommunications.
Finally, the main conflict of the plot (tracking down a betrayer), is barely addressed. The main character basically says "I don't know what to do, I'll just wonder in that direction and see what happens". It's amazing how the main character is both supposedly a master at everything, but utterly useless at making any decisions.
