worst book I have read
Revisado: 04-25-23
this book is designed to sound important and intelligent. it fails on both accounts. I have read over 60 non fiction books myself. I love growing and developing. this was the worst book I have picked up. it is a shame audible did away with the refund a book you don't like feature because I would use it here. oh well save yourself the trouble.

Drab and full of overused words
Revisado: 11-06-17
I've really enjoyed the rest of the series but this book fell so short I can't continue with it. The author overuses words like smirk to the point that it is hard to not roll your eyes.

Zeus has punished his son Apollo - god of the sun, music, archery, poetry, and more - by casting him down to earth in the form of a gawky, acne-covered 16-year-old mortal named Lester. The only way Apollo can reclaim his rightful place on Mount Olympus is by restoring several Oracles that have gone dark. What is affecting the Oracles, and how can Apollo/Lester do anything about them without his powers?

Historia
Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers. One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he barely knows - a man his mother claimed was dangerous. Uncle Randolph tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god. The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday.

Great book but the narrator
Revisado: 07-14-17
Magnus Chase is an awesome story. Rick works his magic again. But the narrator almost ruins this book. His unnatural speech pattern and complete inability to add life to the reading is a travesty! I really wish they would get Kieran Coakin to redo this and give us the Magnus we deserve!!

Historia
Martin and his friends discovered that their world is computer generated and that by altering the code they could alter reality. They traveled back in time to Medieval England to live as wizards. Almost everything they've done since then has, in one way or another, blown up in their faces. So of course they decide to make dragons. It does not go well.

Slower than previous books
Revisado: 07-14-17
This story really starts to make you think reality. The idea is far-fetched but not so much that you can't believe it's not possible. The narrator does a great job on the voices and brings the story to life. This book moved slower than the other books but I found the subject compelling.

Historia
Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

Thor's hammer is missing...again. The thunder god has a disturbing habit of misplacing his weapon - the mightiest force in the Nine Worlds. But this time the hammer isn't just lost, it has fallen into enemy hands. If Magnus Chase and his friends can't retrieve the hammer quickly, the mortal worlds will be defenseless against an onslaught of giants. Ragnarok will begin. The Nine Worlds will burn. Unfortunately, the only person who can broker a deal for the hammer's return is the gods' worst enemy, Loki - and the price he wants is very high.
