This book is a journey through the author survival and healing from a dangerously abusive relationship. Also her having to deal with the abusive nature of the internet toward women. My draw to listening to this book was because I follow the author on social media and for the love of my Scots heritage and the language. It is a powerful message of deep seated physical and psychological trauma. The readings hard to take at times. I wouldn’t wish the experience on anyone. There are some poyums which are lite and cheeky which I enjoyed. “I’ll never have children”. Also instructive, “The Art of rejection” which I have given to all of my nieces. The authors love of the Scotts language and culture is deep and true. Heal well Len.Pennie.

The book left me completely empty. I finished it in the hopes the many of the initial questions the book initiated would come to some conclusion. It didn’t. At best it was a lousy attempt to start a series and I can say it there was a second book I would bother. It’s all my opinion but the book stunk and will only leave you hanging.

The story was great. All of the other embellishments were crap, a distraction an irrigation. I’m talking about all of the music and acting. The story could stand on its own. The rest has got to go. Sorry.

Eye opening to the trauma religious doctrine can cause through indoctrination. The slow steady drip of negative messages religion feeds its flock. I grew up in a church which was the exact opposite of these fundamentalist houses of worship. I was never battered with the notion of hell of pushed in to a submissive guilt behaviors. I still move away from the church for many of the same reasons described here. This gave me more to think about as I watch those churches take advantage of their congregations and cause more harm than good. Great book.

Not sure where this is going as a series but this story was to much up time setting the stage. Not as action packed as other books nor the intricacies. May be time to wrap it up.

First book was great and that was when Haywood should have stopped. Love the characters, initially loved the premise. Now the story got tired and repetitive. The story becomes a one trick pony. One tool in the tool box. The author is struggling to put enough meat on the bones of the story to keep it interesting. I’ve read many of Haywood’s books this one just falls short.

I learned two things. First Liz is talented. I’ve known that for years. I also learned she was and still seemed to be a hot mess. She is very self centered, anxiety ridden, needy and selfish. She’s a great over thinker. She makes a comment that being a celebrity is a curse but it’s one she admits she embraces. I guess that’s what it takes to be an artist of her caliber.

I was brought up in the church and over time have found it to be hypocritical, self righteous and judgmental. They cherry pick Bible verses, interpret it to suit there point. They don’t practice the behavior I was taught as a child. Grace, tolerance and love. I find that I can practice that on my own without the church. The book points out the painful truth the church’s don’t want to hear. What the book does not address how evangelicals and born agains pray on each other by preaching prosperity and bleeding it members dry. I know members of my family who can’t feed there own but keep giving. This book was written in 2009, I’m sure if the survey was don’t today the results would be worst. I applaud the Christian author for taking on the challenge, asking hard questions and presenting a less then flattering results. I do find it interesting that though they speak of tolerance and understanding they see no other way the their way. There is always more then one path. Todays Christian’s and anything but Christian.

This was an excellent, easy to digest explanation of the subject. Provides excellent information and context for those not fully engaged on the subject and want to have a better understanding of the phenomenon of “Q” and conspiracy theories. The threads and tendrils of the subject are convoluted at best. The author does a great job of untangling the Gordian knot, exposing the greed and malfeasance of our politicians and social media for not denouncing and taking action sooner.
