Serial killers killing serial killers and falling in love while doing it. The cleverness of the plot just blew my mind. This is definitely not your standard romance story. A dark romantic comedy with many scenes that will raise your eyebrows and even make you squeamish, as you say to yourself, what the heck is going on and eww…. why do I like it so much? It’s gruesome and funny and sweet all at the same time, and it works — brilliantly. If you’re one for triggers, definitely review the full list ahead of time…. even food may never look the same to you again. The storyline and characters are refreshingly different than anything I’ve ever read, and I look forward to reading more in this trilogy from this talented author. With that said, the narration brings this tale to a whole new level. Joe Arden and Lucy Rivers’ duet performance is simply stellar. Between their flawless delivery, timing and the way they captured the personalities and actions of these characters, the story comes to life so perfectly and oh my gawd, Joe’s Irish accent – panty-melting.

As Leigh tries to reign in her magic with the help of a new witch friend, Gertie, the laughs are a-plenty in book two of this light-hearted and fun series. I found myself giggling out loud at what Leigh got herself (and her friends) into, with each situation crazier and more hysterical than the last. Gertie adds quite a comical bonus with her lack of current societal appropriateness, and her descriptions of her plantation are priceless. Just an all-around hilarious adventure of a new witch, that you can’t help but want to know what happens next! Hollie Jackson did another great performance bringing these characters to life, and I really enjoyed her Irish accent for Gertie. (Overall 3.5 stars)

Great start to this series! Paranormal women’s fiction is becoming very popular and I love the fact that Breena is over 40 and as a reader I can relate to many of her mid-life issues. Starting over from a divorce, Breena finds herself back in Savannah determined to try out for a bounty hunter position, only to realize there’s a whole shadow world that she has blocked herself from. We meet so many interesting characters along the way, in some fairly humorous scenes, I couldn’t help but giggle at Breena’s reactions as she maneuvers through this new world. And who could not love Robert! He’s my favorite character of the series so far and a perfect sidekick for Breena. A new-to-me narrator, Lauren Fortgang gave a rockstar performance! Her arsenal of voices is so impressive. She brought so much life to the characters and the story flowed so smoothly. Fabulous listening experience and look forward to more of this series.

A promising start to a fun and light-hearted series. Leigh loves a good romance book. When she’s inspired to become a romance novelist, she discovers there is magic in her words… however, her good intentions quickly lead to some hilarious scenarios as she uncovers that her new found witch powers aren’t what they seem and are causing more harm than good. Ending on a cliffhanger, I look forward to seeing where this series leads with how Leigh reigns in her witchcraft and a possible love interest, and the author’s clever titles for the series are an inkling as what’s to come. Hollie Jackson’s performance was excellent and I really enjoyed how she brought Leigh’s personality to life.

Vampires in Wonderland? A creatively dark twist of a fairy tale, where the lore of vampires become real and a clever retelling brings our favorite Wonderland characters into a whole fresh, colorful, and sinister light giving us quite an exciting adventure to follow. I’m captivated by the imaginative world these authors created, the brilliant spins and twists of the original story and the conflicts these characters face, as well as the overall redefining of the characters and their significance to one another. This book focused on the Mad Hatter, Maddie, and she was a sure delight as she contemplated between good and evil, saving the day, and giving in to her heart’s true desires. I do recommend to start this series with the prequel novella, Rav, as that’s truly where the story begins and Maddie’s book continues from there. This series has me thoroughly intrigued and I look forward to more! Eva Caine continued her flawless performance, as she breathed life into a quirky and devious cast of characters, elevating the emotional overtones in a rather dark and dangerous world, and allowing us to become connected as if we were in the story ourselves. A fabulous listening experience that made this ingenious tale all the more enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this introduction into the Witches of Christmas Grove series. While it was light on the witch magic, this sweet romance encompassed all the spirit and magic of the holiday season. Rex and Holly had such wonderful chemistry with their big hearts, leading to some really endearing moments. Their holiday fling turned out to be so much more but overcoming their pasts and differences wasn’t easy, which added a nice level of emotion and conflict to their story. A new-to-me narrator, Gabra Zackman brought all the feels to this charming tale, and really elevated the emotional connections between the characters. She has a stellar range of voices and it truly made this a pleasurable listening experience.

Fabulous introduction to this retelling of the Wonderland tale! It was actually quite genius of the authors with how they creatively included the addition of vampire lore and woven in the darker, twisted elements into an already whimsical land of quirky characters. Although this was just a prequel, I was immediately captured by the story as well as the correlation of these newly-visioned characters as they personified their names from the original, and the ominous world building and twisted plot that left me on the edge of my seat wanting more. I look forward to going down the rabbit hole to see how this cleverness unfolds in this brilliant and devious tale! My first listen by Eva Caine and her performance was excellent! Her ability to capture the personalities of the characters, as well keep the overall pace/tone of the story throughout really made for a fantastic listening experience.

I really enjoy this series and love the comradery of the Jilted Wives club. I’ve been excited for Margo’s book and the author did not disappoint! I love how Margo and Aiden were two people not really looking for love, but found that instant connection at first sight. I knew Margo’s hard shell and no-nonsense, no-strings attached dating history would be a difficult one to crack, but Aiden was the perfect match in this sweet, second chance romance, in all ways good and what Margo needed in her life. It was fun to see Margo thrust into situations she normally avoided and see her soft side come out. This book does contain spoilers if you haven’t read Summer’s book (book 2), as the storylines coincide with one another. Besides the romance in this series, I adore the sisterhood that the female characters have with all the love and support they give each other as they venture back into the dating scene and new relationships. A new-to-me narrator, Brytanie Talty brought this light-hearted romance to life, conveying a lot of emotions. Although it felt a little rushed at times, her variety of distinct character voices made it easy to follow and a pleasurable listening experience.

An opposite-attract romance, everything about Summer and Noah’s story just made me feel good. It was charming, sweet and fun… and I just felt the butterflies for both of them as they navigated dating and getting to know one another, proving that opposites do attract and nerdy professors are quite the catch! I really enjoy this series and love the comradery of the Jilted Wives Club—how their friendship bloomed from a common dominator to becoming a supportive and loving sisterhood as they each, in turn, risk their hearts for a second chance at love. A new-to-me narrator, Krys Janae brought this light-hearted romance to life, capturing the personalities of the characters as well as their heart-warming and endearing moments. It was a very enjoyable listening experience.

Really enjoyed this introduction into a new series… from friends-to-enemies… to hopefully lovers? This author never disappoints with her laugh-out-loud, crazy situations that pull you in right from the start. I loved the characters, the office setting and rivalry, and the play on Kell’s last name--what a fun concept for a town! This is just the tip of the iceberg and I can’t wait to see what happens between Rachel and Kellan, if their friendship survives and turns into something more, and what the loving town of Luview has in store for us! The narration was top-notch, as Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton are the perfect duo… bringing the funny and seriousness as they elevated these characters and story with a performance that brought this entertaining tale to another level. Can’t wait for the next book!
