Simply Amazing

Thrilled to have found a new author to follow. AM Shine, well, simply shines in this. Having not heard of him or this novel until the movie came out, I wanted to (of course read the book first). Could not put it down. Finished it in one go. Stunning imagery, haunting description. Followed with great narration. Immediately procured the second book and finished that one the next day.

Atrocity of a narrator

Narration is juvenile, high pitched and whiney. Mispronounces an abundance of words. if you sign up to read a book about witches, voodoo and other supernatural things, possibly learn how to properly pronounce things like gris gris, grimoire and other related words. You can hear her turning pages, the microphone bending and doors opening as people come into her studio. Her voice fades away frequently as she presumably turns her head away from the microphone. Forced myself to finish this box set to see if the narration got any better as 5 books went on. Spoiler - I did not. I genuinely cannot tell if these books were good or bad as I was SO put off by the narration.

For me it was predictable

It may be my ADHD and ability to predict endings, but this was predicable. The narrator did a great job w the material. The main character was a bit dense at times and did not see things that were blatantly in front of her face which is at times frustrating.

Fantastic Romp

Not for the feint of heart, but not that gory either. If you like Halloween or basic horror movies, you will enjoy this. Modern, very plausible take on Lord of the Flies. Narrator did a great job and moves a good pace.

Not typical for Madow

I have been an audible listener for 15+ years & have returned only 1 book that I bought for school that I no longer needed. I have listened to and kept all of Ms Madow's other works and enjoyed them greatly. Cant wait for the next ones to come out. Got this box set to pass the time - no pun intended. This should be listed as pre young adult as it is very juvenile. From the character development to the story line. I was so hopeful going into it and was disappointed. Do not give up on Ms. Madow if this is your first listen. This series is not related to the very extensive - very good - Dark World Series.

If you could sum up Catching Fire in three words, what would they be?

I'm on fire!

What other book might you compare Catching Fire to and why?

I believe it to be in a league all of its own. The whole series that is. I believe it to be more than just a love story. It makes a very large political statement.

Which scene was your favorite?

Katniss' realization when she wakes up at the end.....
I hate spoilers in reviews, so I will not spell it out.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me think. It impresses me that it is being used in collegiate level literature classes for analysis.

Its about time!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Thirst No. 3: The Eternal Dawn?

the fact that this book came out. I remember reading the original 6 volume "Last Vampire" series when I was much younger and re-read them many times. I always wondered what happened after that story ended. Now we know. Apparently there is a "Thirst 4", but it is not out on audiobook. Wish it was.

What does Mandy Siegfried bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Brought my old friends (characters that I read long ago) to life for the first time for me.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Excellent Second Installment

The expansion into the background of the characters in the first book.

I have listened to all of all of Justine Eyre's narrations of Lauren Kate's series. Excellent narrator, good characters, great voices.

Outstanding prequel to Mortal Instruments Series

What made the experience of listening to Clockwork Angel the most enjoyable?

The imagery of trying to connect the prequel series to the Mortal Instruments Series.

What did you like best about this story?

honestly - all of it. I love the new characters, the origins story, the London setting.

What about Jennifer Ehle’s performance did you like?

Great narrator! I would listen to more of her narrations.

Yes, and I almost did except for that pesky thing called a job!
