"Dude view"

Got irritated with the mc and almost stopped, but continued because I wanted to finish the plot. Will not get the next book tho. Irritated due to viewpoint, not bad writing, and Travis is a good narrator. This is a dude's view, and that's fine. I'm just not into it. And yes, I know the author is a man, but not all men write with every nuance dripping with "dude view". Plot was interesting enough.

Grim yet gripping. Excellent listening experience. Even tho the mc is a teenager, I wasn't frustrated by her growing pains & angst. Well done! Most mc's in post apocalyptic environs are too whiny or too blasé by turns. I'm eagerly anticipating the next book!

Funny! Great curses! Liked it more than I thought I would.

I even had people approaching me due to the smile it left on face. Could have done without that, but it felt good to be so amused. Made work a breeze.

The ending was great! Actually made me laugh. So far, I'm really enjoying this series. Not sure if I like this more than the Talyn series, but it's up there on my scale.

Love the narrator, the MC tho... *sigh*

I like the premise of this book and I like the author's other series. However, I am frustrated by this MC. I realize this is how the plot is, and the MC fits the plot, I just find it frustrating how shortsighted the MC is.
Blahblah growth of character, but I physically get upset and dissociate when she does what I consider to be stupid stuff. Actually sick to my stomach and have to pause and/or bang my head on the wall. I don't know if I can continue to the next book.

Narration itself is great! I really enjoy this narrator and was specifically looking up more of her works which is why I bought this audible.

I appreciate and enjoy the diff accents for diff characters, it clearly depicts their various origins, but not to the point of annoyance. The energy of each individual is also clear in their tones & they are distinct enough between characters that I don't get lost.
Moves thru stats pretty quickly compared to other litrpgs. I realize one can only do so much with the material they are given, she does admirably well by not pausing or lingering too long thru stats read outs.

Sometimes some of the slang emphasis is jarring. How she says 'No cap' doesn't sound quite right to my ear. (A little too try-hard, the enthusiasm is right for the character but it doesn't quite sound as fluid or natural as normal speak. It verges on a sarcastic interpretation of Liz's regular dialect.) The rest of the slang sounds fine.

A Funny Yet Wholesome Tale

This was an enjoyable story, one I knew I would like, and I appreciated the narrator more than I thought I would.
Good job pronouncing names I've wondered at while reading the original material.
I was able to slip into the tale in my minds eye, and even though I've already read the 2nd volume, I may get it on audible just to enjoy it again while I'm at work.

Greatest Audible EVER!!

Words cannot express enough how wonderful this book and narration was. Is. Will be.
Lovlelovelove Cara Gee's performance. Seriously. Her voice, her strength of character, resonates thru the protagonist's voice. I could clearly hear the joy, the grief, the anger and frustration, even the love she's experienced thru the filter of Dietz. Amazing. Please narrate more. (I'm totally gonna watch the Expanse now.)
The story itself, phenomenal. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but I felt it all the way thru. It hits all the way home for me. Its absolutely riveting and makes you want more. Wakes you up and let's you know you're not alone. We may be experiencing this differently, but we're doing it all together. Ties very closely with what is happening today, with the state of the world, and even with the Covid-19 pandemic. Heh. Couldn't have timed my choice to read/listen to this now if I had tried.
Get it. You won't be disappointed, but you will regret it if you don't.
