Historia
At the dawn of the 20th century, when human flight was still considered an impossibility, Germany’s Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin vied with the Wright Brothers to build the world’s first successful flying machine. As the Wrights labored to invent the airplane, Zeppelin fathered the remarkable airship, sparking a bitter rivalry between the two types of aircraft and their innovators that would last for decades, in the quest to control one of humanity’s most inspiring achievements. And it was the airship—not the airplane—that led the way.

Title is a bit of a misnomer
Revisado: 08-10-20
A comprehensive story of the Zeppelin company and it’s production of airships. Detailed almost to a fault. I would say that about 4/5ths of the story centers on the Zeppelin Company and Hugo Ekenor. The book’s title gives the impression that the story will revolve around the “battle” between Ekenor and Juan Tripp of Pan Am. This is given only limited space and seems to be an afterthought when the book was written. Overall a worthwhile listen but could have been better.

Historia
When Michael Pollan set out to research how LSD and psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) are being used to provide relief to people suffering from difficult-to-treat conditions such as depression, addiction, and anxiety, he did not intend to write what is undoubtedly his most personal book. But upon discovering how these remarkable substances are improving the lives not only of the mentally ill but also of healthy people coming to grips with the challenges of everyday life, he decided to explore the landscape of the mind in the first person as well as the third.

Historia
At a time when the five most valuable companies on the planet are high-tech firms and nearly half of Americans say they cannot live without their cell phones, Troublemakers reveals the untold story of how we got here. This is the gripping tale of seven exceptional men and women, pioneers of Silicon Valley in the 1970s and early 1980s. Together they worked across generations, industries, and companies to bring technology from Pentagon offices and university laboratories to the rest of us. In doing so they changed the world.

Historia
With The Firm, financial journalist Duff McDonald pulled back the curtain on consulting giant McKinsey & Company. In The Golden Passport, he reveals the inner workings of a singular nexus of power, ambition, and influence: Harvard Business School. Harvard University occupies a unique place in the public's imagination, but HBS has arguably eclipsed its parent in terms of its influence on modern society.

Excellent presentation
Revisado: 05-25-17
Excellent presentation of the authors thesis. Unfortunately the bookdoes seem to get bogged down in too many specifics regarding hiring and firing and the coming and going's of the faculty and alumni. I still recommend it however I can't give it five stars.

Historia
Nearly two weeks early, on March 3, 1947, in the maternity ward of Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, Archibald Isaac Ferguson, the one and only child of Rose and Stanley Ferguson, is born. From that single beginning, Ferguson’s life will take four simultaneous and independent fictional paths. Four identical Fergusons made of the same DNA, four boys who are the same boy, go on to lead four parallel and entirely different lives. Family fortunes diverge. Athletic skills and sex lives and friendships and intellectual passions contrast.

Tries to bite off more than it should
Revisado: 02-11-17
Fascinating story about Putin's many criminal enterprises including murder. Incredibly well researched but seems to ramble on about the minutia of his investigations. The book could have been about a third shorter. Author should have limited this book to the well documented crimes committed by Putin and his gang. He should have devoted his next book to the geopolitical actions.

In this tour de force of dramatic storytelling, distilled from extensive research in newly discovered primary sources, James D. Hornfischer brings to life the campaign that was the fulcrum of the drive to compel Tokyo to surrender—and that forever changed the art of modern war.

An excellent and comprehensive history of some of the most brutal conflict this country has ever know. A marvelous biography of two well known figures (Spruance and Tibbets) and two lesser known Naval heroes (Kaufman and Turner). I highly recommend.
