LOVED IT! Can't wait for the series to continue

I've really come to enjoy Kelley Armstrong's series around Casey Duncan/Butler and the Yukon settlements. They're immersive, exciting and at the same time kind of calming. There's something about everyday life and the community that she created that almost makes you want to move over to Rockton or now Haven's Rock yourself (minus the deaths, maybe :D)

This title was interesting as it is the continuation of the Rockton series, a complete story in its own right while also building the world and setting the stage for a new series with characters we've come to know and love. The majority of characters were newly introduced as part of a new temporary community (who are building the new settlement), so I found myself not caring as much about some folks as in the previous series. Armstrong also introduced some characters shrouded in fascinating mystery that I'm looking forward to learning more about over time.

I essentially binged this book; Thérèse Plummer's amazing narration even elevated it a notch, she is a fantastic performer. Highly recommended and I can't wait for the next part in the series :)

Auf der Suche nach der Drachenrüstung - schöne Fortsetzung!

Nachdem ich von Teil 1 bereits sehr begeistert war, habe ich Teil 2 so gut wie in einem Rutsch (na ja, fast..) durchgehört.
Flo und seine Weggefährten machen sich auf, die Drachenrüstung zusammenzusetzen und das Land vom Bösen zu befreien. Insbesondere Flo reift dabei immens und wächst wirklich mit seinen Aufgaben.

Der finale Kampf war dann unerwartet kurz ausgefallen - überraschenderweise - was auch mein einziger Kritikpunkt an der Story wäre.
Ansonsten toll geschrieben und wirklich super von Marco Rosenberg gesprochen und gespielt :)

Tolle Story, super performt

Als Flo an seinem Geburtstag in die Schule geht, hoffnet er, dass er um den Englischtest herumkommt - rechnet aber nicht damit, dass er von einem Klassenkameraden durch einen geheimnisvoll aussehenden Dolch verletzt wird. Der Angreifer flieht, lässt den Dolch aber unbeachtet zurück - und Florian bringt ihn zu einem Antiquitätenhändler, von dem er glaubt, dass er der wirkliche Eigentümer des Dolches sei. Kurz darauf beginnt er, in dem Laden zu arbeiten.... und findet sich nach einem ereignisreichen Abend ungewollt in einer anderen Welt wieder, in der er und seine Begleiterin Kayla gesucht werden und über Umwege und versteckt zu ihrem Ziel gelangen müssen, auch damit Flo wieder nach Hause geschickt werden kann.

Die Story hat ein bisschen was von Percy Jackson und macht wirklich Spaß zu hören. Klar, es gibt kein Camp, aber ich mag die Art in der die Parallelwelt aufgebaut wurde, die Freundschaft zwischen Kayla und Flo und wie Flo lernt, sich in dieser sehr ungewohnten Welt zurechtzufinden, langsam auch heimisch zu fühlen.
Es war schon ein bisschen schade, als das Hörbuch dann schon zu Ende war, ich kanns kaum erwarten, Teil 2 zu hören :)

Die Performance ist super, der Sprecher Marco Rosenberg erzählt und spielt mit sehr viel Tiefe und Dynamik, porträtiert die Charaktere hervorragend und genau getroffen und reißt einen immer mit :) Sehr empfehlenswert!

Really lovely fantasy-romance brimming with mythological themes

I really enjoy Diana’s story and her complicated lovelife! This second book in the series feels a little more rounded than the first one (which I also loved). The various story threads kept me engaged and interested, wanting to know more about how the overall relationships and the stories unfold. Can’t wait for book 3!

Jennifer Pickens did a really fantastic job narrating - my favorite parts are definitely the bantering dialogue portions :)

Sophia is absolutely endearing - lovely book

I really enjoyed this book. You spend a lot of time with the titular character Sophia, a 13 year old girl, who just wants someone for her widowed father. Sophia is absolutely endearing who means so well - and creates some chaos with her good intentions.

A sweet story, well and very lovingly narrated by Sarah Kisko, who’s narration fits the wholesome story very well.

I enjoyed it!

It’s as usual a lovely cozy mystery, wonderfully narrated by Michelle Babb.

Good sounds, interrupting chapter announcements

The sounds are really lovely - soothing and all, and they last a fair while.

Each chapter is about 2 hours long and comes with a spoken chapter announcement. Especially when you're listening to the sounds to relax, meditate etc., the chapter announcements can easily become frustrating or take you out of what you're doing.
4 stars because of the chapter headings, it would be 5 if the narrative part and structure was maybe all explained in one introductory chapter and the rest would just be uninterrupted sounds.
