Great overview of America History

As someone who’s read extensively about the failure of the Reconstruction I knew much of this information but it was presented so well and chronologically. It would be great for all Americans to give it a listen! I also love it when the author reads their own work.

I wish this was read by the author because this narrator is just too robotic and monotone. It’s difficult to cling on to what she’s talking about. Sometimes it just sounds like a bunch of words jumbled together.
I LOVE Kathleen Hall Jamieson, I don’t know why she couldn’t have read this herself.

Extremely Depressing...

Meh. Not a home run.

The opening chapters about the campaign are pretty hilarious, but I don’t think Woodward will accomplish his goal of alerting the public with this work. If anything, I think I dislike Trump a little less now. He’s a dope, but he doesn’t come across like a madman. I could imagine many Trump supporters not having a problem with what this book reports. Also, Bannon comes off real great if you’re a supporter of him. Overall, just meh- not the ball-park-knock-out-gotcha book I thought it’d be. Spoiler- Makes Mueller and his case look weak. Sad. (Btw I’m a progressive Democrat)

Beautiful sadness

So poetic and beautiful, written with so much love. I will never be able to walk a mile in a black man’s shoes but this book provided explanations and understanding to the plight of black folks in America.
This will be required reading for my children and friends.
