Historia
It's 2553. The theocratic military alliance known as the Covenant has collapsed after a long, brutal war with humanity that saw billions slaughtered on Earth and its colonies. For the first time in 30 years, however, peace finally seems possible. But though the fighting has stopped, the war is far from over: It’s just gone underground.

Hypocrisy
Revisado: 03-08-24
Overall the story was pretty good but in my opinion had a glaring flaw. This book spends a large amount of time acting shocked at the actions that created the Spartans but from the point of view of the Spartans and Oni operatives. I would think that the Spartans would be able to get over it considering the amount of humans they passionlessly killed before the covenant war and from the perspective of the Oni spooks that often brag about “disappearing” people that might have done something to get on their bad side, that’s just dumb.

Nicole Hammond is a Sibyl, a special human that has the ability to communicate with a strange alien ship called the Fyrantha. However, Nicole and all other sentient creatures are caught up in a war for control between two competing factions. Now, the street kid turned rebel leader has a plan that would restore freedom to all who have been shanghaied by the strange ship. She just has to unite the many alien races being forced to combat for their freedom, dodge slaving war profiteers determined to capture her, and convince an AI at war with itself to trust her above all else.

Historia
Nicole Lee's life is going nowhere. No family, no money, and stuck in a relationship with a thug named Bungie. But, after one of Bungie's "deals" goes south, he and Nicole are whisked away by a mysterious moth-like humanoid to a strange ship called the Fyrantha. Once aboard, life on the ship seems too good to be true. All she has to do is work on one of the ship's many maintenance crews. However, she learned long ago that nothing comes without a catch. When she's told to keep quiet and stop asking questions, she knows she is on to something.

Super slow
Revisado: 03-03-23
I normally enjoy Timothy Zahn books but this one seems unnecessary slow. Plus the characters are a bit stereo typical without much growth. Going to give the second book a try.

Not on par with the first book
Revisado: 10-28-21
I loved the first book but this book is nothing like it. The pacing slowed way down, the characters got dumb, and if I have to hear “oh shit” again, I’m gonna to loose my mind. I get it, the characters are going through a lot of unknowns, but it feels like they are characters out of a 30s horror movie, trembling in fear of everything. Everything thing is supper shocking to them.
Von’s personal development was great in the first one, but in this book is gone. Angela seems to have lost any knowledge of theoretical physics and can’t even guess what’s happening.
What really grinds my gears is the characters react to something but it takes 5 minutes to tell you what they are reacting to. Just tell me!
