Historia
Lia Doe came to Mystic Bayou for one simple reason: to get her job done. Namely, to build a housing complex for all the new residents flocking to town since word of its supernatural population got out. But from the moment Lia arrives, it’s clear that nothing about the job is going to be simple.

Interesting storyline... enjoyed listening to it!

Found the story endearing and fun. Both narrators were quirky and did really good voices. I was thoroughly entertained with this book.

Historia
A coming-of-age tale for the young and naïve 17-year-old Catherine Morland, Northanger Abbey takes a decidedly comical look at themes of class, family, love and literature. Revelling in the sensationalist - and extremely popular - Gothic fiction of her day, the story follows Catherine out of Bath to the lofty manor of the Tilneys, where her overactive imagination gets to work constructing an absurd and melodramatic explanation for the death of Mrs Tilney, which threatens to jeopardise her newly forged friendships.

Very entertaining!

Having the story performed, as if on stage, was a delight. No need to guess who's speaking. I thought the performers were very good in their parts. No one had a strange or peculiar sounding voice which added to my enjoyment immensely.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Who doesn't love this story!
Revisado: 06-09-21
Having heard this story (several times by another performer) I at first had a little trouble with the "voices" depicted for the various characters. But I soon got used to the new voices and enjoyed this version immensely. I particularly was intrigued by some of the passages read in this version (as to now, unheard of by me and I don't know if they're part of the original book or an addition put in by the production company). Rosamund Pike has a lovely depth to her own voice and is able to do a wide range, which helps to distinguish each character nicely.

Historia
Matilda Westcott has spent her life tending to the needs of her mother, the Dowager Countess of Riverdale, never questioning the life of solitude she has spun for herself. To Matilda, who considers herself the aging spinster daughter, marriage is laughable - love is a game for the young, after all. But her modest, quiet life of order unravels when a dashing gentleman from her past reappears, threatening to charm his way into her heart yet again.

Nice ending to the series!
Revisado: 02-15-20
I found it really nice and gratifying to hear and get a favorable ending to Matilda's life story. And especially an explanation to her mother's attitude towards her. The only thing I regretted was that the story was rather hurried and didn't slowly come about (to make the story 9 or 10 hrs to listen to instead of 5 hrs. I love long 11 to 14 hour stories.) It could have been nicely extended after the wedding to include how Gil and his half-siblings got along and shared their family histories.

Too much cussing
Revisado: 11-18-18
An occasional FU is one thing... but the whole 1st chapter and beginning 2nd chapter (really wanted to give this book a chance) had f..k in just about every sentence spoken by the character. I found this way of speaking uncomfortable to listen to. In addition, hundreds of books have been written and get the point across without using cuss words in their vocabulary. Returned the book.

I LOVED THE SERIES! I waited with baited breath for each book that wasn't written yet!♡♡♡ Mary Balog painted such interesting characters in the first book, that I was anxious to know more about them. I was overjoyed when George finally made the decision to live his life to the fullest and satisfy is own needs and wants.

This is the third time listening to this book. It seemed a little slower this time, but I enjoy the chemistry of Peabody and Emerson. They are both obnoxiously intelligent. I also enjoy the series because of the Egyptian history it divulges.

Revisado: 07-22-16
Has enough suspense written in, that I wasn't totally sure of what happened to Gavin. The story brought out a whole range of emotions from me...from sad to out loud laughing. I especially like the fact, that the characters weren't stupid in their relations (just carrying a lot of baggage), they caught on pretty quickly to a person's motives. All in all, a good listen...I'll be listening to it again in the future.
