Historia
Hollow’s Edge use to be a quiet place. A private and idyllic neighborhood where neighbors dropped in on neighbors, celebrated graduation and holiday parties together, and looked out for one another. But then came the murder of Brandon and Fiona Truett. A year and a half later, Hollow’s Edge is simmering. The residents are trapped, unable to sell their homes, confronted daily by the empty Truett house, and suffocated by their trial testimonies that implicated one of their own. Ruby Fletcher. And now, Ruby’s back.

Not Miranda's Best Work
Revisado: 08-23-21
I have obsessively consumed Megan Miranda's novels in audiobook form for the past few years and this one fell short of my expectations. The characters (except Ruby) all felt un-inspired. The town of Hollow's Edge did not have the same charm as most of the small towns she crafts do. It felt under-developed. The plot overall and each "twist" fell flat. I was not intrigued but I kept listening because, as always, the narrator Rebekah Ross gave an excellent performance. In fact, I was waiting for the big climax to happen, only to realize that I was in the middle of it. It was so uneventful that I was waiting for something more to happen. Maybe my expectations were too high based on Miranda's other works.
If you're looking for a more impactful, exciting thriller/mystery by this same author, read The Perfect Stranger (personal favorite) or The Last House Guest (also great).

Good for what it is
Revisado: 06-03-20
Excellent writing. Beautifully developed characters with intricate relationships that really come to life. However, I just couldn't get into the plot. It was terribly uninteresting to me. All of the characters are also pretty unlikable. It wasn't compelling for me, but I can see how it would resonate with someone else.

very disappointed
Revisado: 03-12-20
I am usually a huge Megan Miranda fan, but this one is a huge disappointment. Slow, boring, and a conclusion that makes no sense.

Perfection
Revisado: 09-09-19
By far Megan Miranda's best novel that I've read (so far). There are so many twists and turns in this story, so much excellent character development and world-building. I loved every second of it.

Captivating
Revisado: 06-06-19
It took me until about a third of the way into the book to realize that the story is being told backwards. If you know that going into it, it's much easier read. The secret at the very end seemed a little bit like a cop-out to me. It wasn't the earth-shattering revelation that I thought it would be.
Apart from that, I loved the book. The author skillfully crafted a small town close knit feel that I love reading. For me, it was reminiscent of On The Jellicoe Road, which just happens to be my favorite novel. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and was captivated the whole way through. The narrator did a great job at immersing me in the story. It's a unique read, and I recommend it despite its flaws.
