Historia
Whether we view it in theological, philosophical, or psychological terms, evil remains both a deeply intriguing question and a crucially relevant global issue. Now, Professor Mathewes offers you a richly provocative and revealing encounter with the question of human evil - a dynamic inquiry into Western civilization's greatest thinking and insight on this critical subject.

Absolutely Excellent Study of the Concept of Evil
Revisado: 07-03-21
Professor Mathewes is a learned scholar and his study of the existence of evil from Sumerian times to the present is phenomenal. For me, I plan to listen many times to the whole series of presentations as I find it encompassing writers with whom II am familiar and some with whom I am not.
Professor Mathewes' presentation, voice, inflection, emphasis make the lectures come alive. I am so grateful that I happened upon the course. Thank you, thank you, Professor Mathewes. May I come and sit at your feet to learn more from you ?
HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Look beyond the abstract dates and figures, kings and queens, and battles and wars that make up so many historical accounts. Over the course of 48 richly detailed lectures, Professor Garland covers the breadth and depth of human history from the perspective of the so-called ordinary people, from its earliest beginnings through the Middle Ages.

Difficult Delivery
Revisado: 08-20-20
I was really looking forward to listening to this as I teach Art History. I did learn a few new things BUT the way Dr. Garland delivered the information was so distracting to me that towards the end, I just gave up. His thought process is not consistent and the delivery is chopped up. I realize that he wrote the book but I strongly suggest someone else read it for Audible.

Hopper's Paining of the Culture
Revisado: 08-20-20
I teach Art History and found that only a few of the stories really addressed the painting the story was about. Hopper's main theme is loneliness and isolation. I've always loved NIGHTHAWKS and found that story to be truer to Hopper's vision.
