Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

absolutely wonderful narration
Revisado: 05-11-24
characters and plot had me totally absorbed. despite my lack of science background I followed along easily.
i could not wait to see outcome of each plot twist and turn. Rocky is adorable and Grace rises above his flaws to his best self. the interesting ending is the best part of the book. an utter surprise and worth the journey.
one of best and most memorable books I have ever read.

Four previously uncollected stories from one of the great mystery writers of our time - swift, cunning murder mysteries (two of which feature the young Adam Dalgliesh) that together, to borrow the author's own word, add up to a delightful "entertainment".

Historia
After many years working around the world for an international charity in the late 1960s, Eleanor Trewynn has retired to the relative quiet of a small town in Cornwall. But her quiet life is short-lived when, due to her experience, the Commonwealth Relations Office reaches out to her to assist in a secret conference that is to take place in a small hotel outside the historical village of Tintagel. Meanwhile, her niece, Detective Sergeant Megan Pencarrow, is investigating the disappearance of a local solicitor when she is assigned to help provide security.

enjoyable as always, narrator warm and delightful.
Revisado: 09-20-22
I can't resist Aunt Eleanor, and I am glad I read this book, but it was much too long. Too many details by far about car chase and highway directions, and also too many details about the hunt over the moors by foot. Those parts should have been an hour shorter. The students from Zimbabwe and the politics were very interesting. The subplot about the Cornish lawyer was very good with an unexpected twist. Very satisfying ending.

i love the elinore character ., I am hooked!
Revisado: 08-24-22
I just switched over after enjoying much of the Dalrymple series.
This is charming in a quite different way. A much more realistic lifestyle and several lovable mature characters. Not as overly light and sweet in style. The Cornwall locale is very intriguing and challenging with some sturdy characters to match. I absolutely love having older characters as well as interesting young ones , so still some romance, and a very good mixture.

Historia
In September 1925, Scotland Yard DCI Alec Fletcher inherits a large house on the outskirts of London from a recently deceased great-uncle. Fortunately so, as he and his wife, the Honorable Daisy Dalrymple Fletcher, are the recent proud parents of twins, and their house is practically bursting at the seams. Though in need of a bit of work, this new, larger house seems a godsend - set in a small circle of houses, with Hampstead Heath nearby, the setting is idyllic. Idyllic, that is until a dead body shows up half-hidden under the bushes of the communal garden.

Having read most of this series, this has a lot of new settings and characters. No inane aristocrats in sight. Finally interesting middle class characters. The scenes aboard a ship heading to America with smuggled contents is exciting and excellent. The absolute best work this narrator has done despite past criticism.

Revisado: 08-16-22
this narrator Mia Charamonte is a pleasure to listen to. this was the second time I have listened to this book after a break of a year or 2.
there is always a new situation or location or new piece of history or culture in each book in the series. some characters are new and others part of the family or familiar friends.
the Indian doctor was particularly delightful. the child Belinda is always a welcome character in each story.

delightful series til now. skip to next If you can
Revisado: 08-16-22
i have been addicted to series until now.
Lucy Raynor uses an unbearably shrill voice to indicate a lower class unattractive character. She used exactly the same voice for a similar chraracter in a previous book . almost ruined that book too. a very likeable successful American character is reduced to a rube by an American accent I have never heard. where is the director? Daisy will keep me on this cozy series though. She is so likeable.

interesting story , behind the scenes of classical concerts. Çluttered with too many characters, a few of whom almost the same: older wives heartbroken with wandering husband's they don't seem able to leave. some interesting refugee musicians from Germany who keep on at their craft despite snobbery. plenty of mystery to keep readers guessing. and some nice happy resolutions. delightful Daisy and Alec as slwsys.

Bernadette Dunne is back as reader, at last, with her soft voice and nothing strident. more believable characters as a result. story is in a nice sseaside setting. It's not cluttered with shrill upperclassmen characters that you can't keep straight. Thank you for a sweet gem.

Historia
The murderee is Nicola Six, a "black hole" of sex and self-loathing who is intent on orchestrating her own extinction. The murderer may be Keith Talent, a violent lowlife whose only passions are pornography and darts; or the rich, honorable, and dimly romantic Guy Clinch. As Nicola leads her suitors towards the precipice, London--and, indeed, the whole world--seems to shamble after them in a corrosively funny novel of complexity and morality.
