Historia
Lyndon Baines Johnson was a man of great ambition and enormous greed, both of which, in 1963, would threaten to destroy him. In the end, President Johnson would use power from his personal connections in Texas and from the underworld and from the government to escape an untimely end in politics and to seize even greater power. President Johnson, the thirty-sixth president of the United States, was the driving force behind a conspiracy to murder President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. In The Man Who Killed Kennedy, you will find out how and why he did it. Political consultant, strategist, and Libertarian Roger Stone has gathered documents and used his firsthand knowledge to construct the ultimate tome to prove that LBJ was not only involved in JFK's assassination, but was in fact the mastermind. With 2013 being the fiftieth anniversary of JFK's assassination, this is the perfect time for The Man Who Killed Kennedy to be available to readers. The research and information in this book is unprecedented, and as Roger Stone lived through it, he's the perfect person to bring it to everyone's attention.

No accountability. No justice
Revisado: 08-29-24
Overall it was a good book. It did seem to jump around a bit. I definitely learned more about the hatred LBJ harbored against the Kennedy’s. All the files need to be released; no more excuses, no matter who it burns. There will never be accountability, which is even more upsetting.

Historia
In Doc Holliday: The Life and Legend, the historian Gary Roberts takes aim at the most complex, perplexing, and paradoxical gunfighter of the Old West, drawing on more than 20 years of research - including new primary sources - in his quest to separate the life from the legend. Doc Holliday was a study in contrasts: the legendary gunslinger who made his living as a dentist; the emaciated consumptive whose very name struck fear in the hearts of his enemies

Cannot believe this was a free download. This was a thorough and thoughtful work of art. I may have caught a couple oddities in the reading, but that could have easily been the internet connection. I will certainly listen to this again in the future.

Was the Civil War really about slavery? Or was it a war fought over money? Civil War historian Samuel W. Mitcham Jr., (Vicksburg, Bust Hell Wide Open) opens his fascinating new book, It Wasn't About Slavery, with Dr. Grady McWhiney's claim that "what passes as standard American history is really Yankee history written by New Englanders or their puppets to glorify Yankee heroes and ideals".

Quite an interesting book
Revisado: 03-25-23
I read the reviews beforehand and was teetering on purchasing this book. The narration, as mentioned by other reviewers, is a bit overdone. However, I’d rather have the extra flair than a dull, flat, monotone reading. Plenty of facts and sources throughout. The book does lay out some exceptions vs. the “rule” when bringing up some points. If you’re looking for a book that explores the darker side of the North/Union, then you should get what you’re looking for.

Historia
The Long Night is Ernst Israel Bornstein's first-hand account of what he witnessed in seven concentration camps. Written with remarkable insight and raw emotion, The Long Night paints a portrait of human psychology in the darkest of times. Bornstein tells the stories of those who did all they could do to withstand physical and psychological torture, starvation, and sickness, and openly describes those who were forced to inflict suffering on others.

Incredible Testimony
Revisado: 12-05-22
What an incredible, detailed account. So many camps! It’s an amazing account with perseverance to somehow make it through and survive barbaric treatment. The only criticism I can offer is that 90% (roughly) of the book covers the journey as a prisoner and upon finally obtaining freedom, very little is covered. But, what an amazing book! You certainly get the details and feelings of daily life of the author.

Historia
April 7, 1944 - This date marks the successful escape of two Slovak prisoners from one of the most heavily-guarded and notorious concentration camps of Nazi Germany. The escapees, Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler, fled over 100 miles to be the first to give the graphic and detailed descriptions of the atrocities of Auschwitz. Originally published in the early 1960s, I Escaped from Auschwitz is the striking autobiography of none other than Rudolf Vrba himself. Vrba details his life leading up to, during, and after his escape from his 21-month internment in Auschwitz.

Incredible account
Revisado: 12-01-22
The details of survival, pain, and the unthinkable are so well written (and narrated), you would think it was fiction. Upon gaining freedom, I was expecting to hear better stories than that of the disappointment I felt hearing that the reports of what was really taking place in the camps fell on deaf ears.

Historia
Filip Müller came to Auschwitz with one of the earliest transports from Slovakia in April 1942 and began working in the gassing installations and crematoria in May. He was still alive when the gassings ceased in November 1944. He saw millions come and disappear; by sheer luck he survived. Müller is neither a historian nor a psychologist; he is a source - one of the few prisoners who saw the Jewish people die and lived to tell about it. Eyewitness Auschwitz is one of the key documents of the Holocaust.

This book brought vivid memories of such a horrific act the entire way through. Of all the accounts I’ve read, or listen to, this one is remarkable. Well written and narrated. It brought emotions out of me just listening to details of the pain, sorrow, and events that took place. Highly recommend!

In Dangerous Personalities, former FBI profiler Joe Navarro shows listeners how to identify the four most common "dangerous personalities", and analyze how much of a threat each one can be: the Narcissist, the Predator, the Paranoid, and the Unstable Personality. Along the way, listeners learn how to protect themselves both immediately and long-term - as well as how to recover from the trauma of being close to such a destructive force.

Having read and listened to Joe Navarro previously, this book is nothing like his other works. The content was lackluster and the performance was dreadful. It was read in a condescending tone. I gained nothing from it.

Historia
He is the star of a hit Broadway musical, the face on the 10-dollar bill, and a central figure among the founding fathers. But do you really know Alexander Hamilton? Rather than lionize Hamilton, Americans should carefully consider his most significant and ultimately detrimental contribution to modern society: the shredding of the United States Constitution. Connecting the dots between Hamilton's invention of implied powers in 1791 to transgender bathrooms and same-sex marriage today, Brion McClanahan shows the origins of our modern federal leviathan.

A stretch?
Revisado: 06-18-22
I’ve never been a fan of Hamilton. Can’t say why, just an overall feeling. When I saw the title and description for this book, I thought it was a stretch, almost daring me to listen. While I cannot connect all the dots like the author has, I can see his point. The book did not flow in a manner that convinced me of the expectations. Having just finished Dumas Malone’s six volumes on Jefferson, I find this book seriously lacking, and incomparable. However, the book did confirm my disdain for Hamilton. Still, I hold Hamilton in high regard for playing a critical role in the founding of this country, perhaps more for his military service. I tip my hat. When he entered into the political realm, I lose all respect.

Quite an exhaustive project. I listened to all six volumes and was never bored. Of the numerous books I’ve read, or listened to, none of them remotely touch on the complexities and mysteries of Jefferson like this series.
