Historia
In 2011, a 26-year-old libertarian programmer named Ross Ulbricht launched the ultimate free market: the Silk Road, a clandestine website hosted on the Dark Web where anyone could trade anything - drugs, hacking software, forged passports, counterfeit cash, poisons - free of the government's watchful eye. It wasn't long before the media got wind of the new website where anyone - not just teenagers and weed dealers but terrorists and black hat hackers - could buy and sell contraband detection-free.

Excellent book
Revisado: 12-17-19
This is as good as none-fiction narrative comes. Excellent story, well written and well researched by Nick Bilton and his co-workers. Perfectly narrated by Will Damron.

A "nice guy" in early 20th century Japan
Revisado: 01-04-17
You know those "nice guys" with fedora hats, chain wallets and who call women "m'lady"? The ones who speak of dating as "courting" and who have an interest in Japanese culture and buy themselves a katana sword from Amazon? The type of guys who get angry because women choose the "bad boy Chad" instead of the "nice guy" with the fedora hat? And in the end, the "nice guy" thinks it's all women's fault - and turns his miserably low self esteem into a hatred for the opposite sex? Ok, this book is about that guy. Only it takes place in Japan around the end of World War 2 to the end of the 50s.
The narrator clearly knows Japanese, for all the Japanese places, terms and names are properly pronounced. For all I know, I don't speak Japanese.

Historia
South Africa is a nation that has been ravaged by oppression and racial inequality. After years of concentrated violence and apartheid, Nelson Mandela led the country to unite ‘for the freedom of us all’ as the country’s first black president. South Africa: History in an Hour gives a lively account of the formation of modern South Africa, from the first contact with 17th-century European sailors, through the colonial era, the Boer Wars, apartheid, and the establishment of a tolerant democracy in the late 20th century.

Well read and gives a good overview
Revisado: 05-30-16
The history of South Africa and apartheid is too vast to tell in detail in only one hour. But this gives a good overview of the major events leading up to apartheid and the events leading to the end of the regime and political doctrine. I do however lack a nuanced view of what the different parties involved wanted and why. The book starts by saying that there are different views on what the truth is, and that all parties will tell history from their perspective. I agree with this, but would still have liked the author to at least mention the point of view of the pro-apartheid people of South Africa. I had troubles understanding why they implemented the laws to begin with, the jump to that being mentioned was too quick.

In the beginning, there was The Average American Male. Maxim called it "pure filth". Even Penthouse called it "appalling". The New York Times called it "the literary love child of Neil LaBute, Judy Blume, and Eminem". Now, Chad Kultgen's unforgettable antihero is back - this time as a married man.

Whatever guys tell you, this is what they're thinking. This is life for a man. It is sad, yet amazingly accurate.
