Historia
Reacher goes where he wants, when he wants. That morning he was heading west, walking under the merciless desert sun — until he comes upon a curious scene. A Jeep has crashed into the only tree for miles around. A woman is slumped over the wheel. Dead? No, nothing is what it seems. The woman is Michaela Fenton, an army veteran turned FBI agent trying to find her twin brother, who might be mixed up with some dangerous people. Most of them would rather die than betray their terrifying leader.

Agree with others that Reacher is Dead
Revisado: 11-01-21
This book was awful! If this was the first book of the series it would have never had a second book. There were situations that didn't make sense in this book and the characters were not very well fleshed out. Reacher himself has lost about 70 points of IQ but replaced it for a pension for slugging it out. Reacher has always been a Pre-Order for me but no more. When the next book comes out I am going to wait to see if the reviews indicate this new Reacher shows up again.

Every conclusion the detectives made was wrong.
Revisado: 03-24-18
Usually I enjoy this author's books but typically they are about attorneys saving clients from shoddy police work. This time it is about police detectives making conclusions based on weak facts and coming to the wrong conclusion time after time. The story was compelling until the detectives ruined it by solving the crime multiple times incorrectly.

Who is THE NOWHERE MAN? He is spoken about only in whispers. He comes to those in greatest need of his protection. There is no enemy he cannot fight. He lives by his own code. He takes no prisoners. His name is Evan Smoak. Taken from a group home when he was young, Evan was raised and trained as an Orphan, an off-the-books black box program designed to create the perfect deniable intelligence asset: An assassin.

was the author paid by the word?
Revisado: 01-28-17
I enjoyed the first orphan X book but had a hard time getting through this one. The situations created were poorly string together and the author has to decide whether orphan X is a tortured soul or a vigilanty. In particular when he is saved by Jack (doesn't anyone die and stay dead anymore?) his whining about being betrayed is long and boring. The author created a good character in the first book but has ruined him by adding multiple subplots and characters from the grave. If it isn't broke don't fix it.

Terrible book
Revisado: 07-13-16
I can't believe I listened to the whole book. I kept telling myself it must get better but it didn't. The story didn't make any sense and jumped around without any transition. Unbelievable story and unsympathetic characters.

Historia
After the events in Gathering Prey, Lucas Davenport finds himself in a very unusual situation - no longer employed by the Minnesota BCA. His friend, the governor, is just cranking up a presidential campaign, though, and he invites Lucas to come along as part of his campaign staff. "Should be fun!" he says, and it kind of is - until they find they have a shadow: an armed man intent on killing the governor...and anyone who gets in the way.

Would you listen to Extreme Prey again? Why?
No. I enjoyed it but I never listen to a book twice
What did you like best about this story?
Lucas Davenport as the lead and getting the setting out into a rural setting for a change.

Disappointing
Revisado: 05-19-16
Not really a JP Beaumont book which is why I purchased it. The story holds no real surprises and most of the story is rehashing her previous stories about the characters. The author also tries to weave in Indian legends and mystic which really doesn't add anything to the book. Tony Hillerman did this so well and Jance should not try to copy that style.

Historia
Patty and Walter Berglund were the new pioneers of old St. Paul - the gentrifiers, the hands-on parents, the Whole Foods generation. Patty was the ideal sort of neighbor, who could tell you where to recycle your batteries and how to get the local cops to do their job. She was an enviably perfect mother and the wife of Walter's dreams. Together with Walter - environmental lawyer, commuter cyclist, total family man - she was doing her small part to build a better world.
