Re-told story with little emotion

If you already read/listened to the Throne of Glass series, you’ll already have heard this story. It has been a bit since I listened to the series so I enjoyed the novella/retelling. The narrator has a pleasant voice, but very flat and unemotional. Sometimes it felt rushed, and there were no pauses for emphasis or inflection in her voice. That was a little disappointing.

So worth it!

I listened through most of it thinking, this man is a glutton for punishment. Then I got to the last two chapters and afterword and felt it hard. I related so deeply to his journey, albeit via different avenues. I truly get him and I know he would get me, if ever we met. There’s something cathartic in recognizing your own peace and healing (physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually) in others. These are the threads that tie us together. So glad I had the honor of listening to his story.

I listened to this book with my 9 yo. It was amazing! The detailed descriptions draw you in and you almost forget about “the real world” for awhile. The narrators were perfect.
