He was the talented bad boy everyone wanted. I was the irrelevant geek everyone hated. He was the sun...drawing all of us in. I was a black hole...taking up space. He was destined to be a star. I was destined to remain an insignificant no one. Until he made me believe I was special...and then he destroyed me. I never thought I'd see Phoenix Walker again after he broke my heart, but fate had other plans. One tour. Eight weeks. Forty shows. Countless opportunities to make him pay. The world thought he was a god...but I know the truth.

And we wonder why women get abused
Revisado: 11-16-23
I listened to the book in entirety and the story is painful but also interesting enough that I wanted to finish it. The relationship between Lennon and Phoenix is toxic and abusive. This is not a loving relationship. When is the narrative going to change and quit making women victims?

Full of Twist and Turns
Revisado: 12-02-22
It's easy to get into and hard to stop listening to. It's a little cringy with some of the characters, but it's still worth the listen if you just want a story to get lost in.

Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

Historia
Every woman, no matter her culture, ethnicity, age, or station in life, is called to own the assignment of mothering world changers. The Christian community has been equipped with powerful books and trainings that champion the call of spiritual fathers, yet there stands a missing piece in the kingdom family — the call to mothering, particularly spiritual mothering, remains faint and undefined.

So glad I listened to this and didn't read it because I would have a reading hangover. Great story that had lots of twist and turns. Plus, a reminder to focus on the good and positive in our lives. Also, take of our mental health. It effects all we are around.
