Excellent- one of the best books I’ve read in a while
Revisado: 07-03-24
The time traveling is done very effectively and pretty smoothly I thought. I didn’t get lost with what was happening. The characters are likeble and have depth- there were things I figured out early but some I did not- overall very entertaining .

Even as short as this title is I couldn’t listen to the whole thing
Revisado: 03-29-24
The readers voice was annoying and there was way to much intentional drama- it was very tedious in my opinion- I think this was a free book because I otherwise wouldn’t read something so short but even for free it was a no go for me.

I did eventually get into the book but....
Revisado: 03-08-21
It was a real slow starter. The characters were kind of hard to keep straight from each other in the early chapters since they were rather vanilla. I think I was a few hours in before I was able to keep track of which one Sarah was versus Laura. In the end I liked it but it’s not one of my favorites and if you want more action or character depth I don’t think this is for you

I love this authors books and the narrator they typically feature. This one is probably my third favorite but it was excellent- it’s just that Pretending to Dance and The Dream Daughter we’re so good that there is stiff competition to be her best book. I highly recommend picking this one up

More science than science-fiction
Revisado: 08-13-19
I wanted to like this book, but the writing was too dry for me. There was a wealth of science information- CDC jargon and explanations which I didn't need and I think just made it harder to get into the characters. Many of the characters- even the "good guys" were rather insufferable and just not likeable. I listened to the whole thing, because after a while I did want to know how it ended/ what the point was--- but I never grew to like the story or most of the people in it.
I'd pass on this one-- unless you are really into scientific explanations and despicable and/or whiny people.

Historia
At forty-five, Hannah Smith is at a crossroads. That's her spin on it. The reality is she's divorced, jobless, and moving back to her family home in Iowa to keep an eye on her mother, who's slipping into dementia. Her return stirs up the same unnerving sense of disconnect Hannah has felt since childhood - always the odd girl out, the loner outshone by her two older sisters. Hannah knew the feelings of hurt would come back. But she never expected fear....

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Revisado: 05-02-18
I have listened to 3 Peter clines books and his characters are so well developed I get really into them. I’ve been avoiding the ex heroes books bc I’m just not a super hero fan- I can’t believe so many people are into these marvel and x men type movies as adults! But his writing is so good I may have to give that one a chance anyway

meh- quite a letdown
Revisado: 02-21-18
The story itself was OK--- nothing to write home about but not terrible. It was some use of language that really kind of got on my nerves..... a mother who constantly referred to her son as "this boy" for dramatic effect rather than calling him her son. And there was a lot of unnecessary description of irrelevant details. Someone told me that Dean Koontz was to the West Coast what Stephen King is to the North East---- I have to say if this book is any indication the two don't belong in the same category at all--- it was rather disappointing in my opinion.
