Historia
The Saurian threat has been defeated, and the eastern border has been made safe once again. With the end of the campaign, Valian looks forward to peace and prosperity for his newly established house, but fate has other ideas. A dark corruption is taking hold in Tor’s Rest, strengthened by the avarice and ambition of those in power. Shunned by those he called allies, cornered by those he called enemies, Valian must decide how far he’s willing to go in order to combat the chaos sweeping throughout the land.

Solid 3
Revisado: 11-20-22
I enjoyed the listen. I spend a lot of time driving and listening to books so I’m open to other than great reads.
The characters are a little two dimensional and for such highly trained individuals they make some stupid decisions. They also don’t see neon signs flashing ‘danger’. I did like out completely bad ass the operatives are in those operative type situations.
Narrator is beige. Nothing wrong, nothing outstanding.

Historia
In 1945, after his capture at the end of the Second World War, Hermann Göring arrived at an American-run detention center in war-torn Luxembourg, accompanied by 16 suitcases and a red hatbox. The suitcases contained all manner of paraphernalia: medals, gems, two cigar cutters, silk underwear, a hot water bottle, and the equivalent of $100,000,000 in cash. Hidden in a coffee can, a set of brass vials housed glass capsules containing a clear liquid and a white precipitate: potassium cyanide. Joining Göring in the detention center were the elite of the captured Nazi regime....

Truly bad
Revisado: 11-16-22
Pick a word, any are a good addition to the description.
Annoying
Uninteresting
Pedantic (and about basic level info, nothing a halfway history buff wouldn’t know)
Without insight as to what this particular psychiatrist knew, suspected, explored, theorized - with regard to his ‘patients’, his practical knowledge of psychiatry of the time or anything remotely approaching a factual survey of the scholarship of psychiatry in the mid 20th century.
Shame, any of that applied to the prisoners would have been interesting.
Nothing about psychological profiles.
Hardly any face time with any nazi’s. Looks around….nazi’s!? Where, damn, missed them.
Ever so boring DNF at 2h17 to go but that was when I stopped playback in of a surfeit of aggravation, a mindless action to make it stop. I’d stopped listening ages back.
I can’t say enough about how deplorable. I feel I should be sent some wine or a nice meal to make up for listening. I’ve read first time author harem romance that wasn’t this bad.

Takes time
Revisado: 11-14-22
It took awhile for me to care what happened because the secondary characters aren’t well developed and I can’t stand the primary character. Then I wanted to know where the plot went. Author gripped some references to some interesting future stuff so I’m probably going to buy the next one. Pretty sure I still won’t like the main character.

In a near future, the air pollution is so bad that everyone wears gas masks. The infant mortality rate is soaring, and birth defects, new diseases, and physical ailments of all kinds abound. The water is undrinkable - unless you're poor and have no choice. Large corporations fighting over profits from gas masks, drinking water, and clean food tower over an ineffectual, corrupt government.

You’ll need to pay attention
Revisado: 11-03-22
The consequences of greedy corporations given limitless run, unbalanced use of resources, prodigious and multi faceted pollutants, inept governance and willfully clueless citizenry going strong for a few handfuls of decades. Almost farcical as the dominos start falling if the descriptions were not perfectly logical.
The first time I listened to this it was little more than a jumble of outrageous incidents and stupid characters. This time I found the thread and it was clear, relevant, and a bit distressing.

Revisado: 06-12-22
No glaring shortcomings with the writing, world, characters or editing. My rating is for how different this is from any other story of loss and growth and acceptance. At the end my first thought was how strange the story was. Novelty deserves a review and 5 stars.

Disappointing
Revisado: 06-07-22
We’ll read and the plot initially grabbed my attention. I thought the narrator did a fantastic job showing us a the emotions and personality of the main character.
I won’t spoil it but the man at the end of the book is not the man we met in the beginning and even given the events I still think it feels like the author wanted a particular feel at the end and stuck it on.
