Narrator needs to learn American English
Revisado: 04-05-25
When a book is written about a specific area, in this case Portland Oregon, it would be nice if they investigated regional pronunciation. In her first book it was annoying. This book took it to a new level. My guess is the narrator is British and trying to speak American English. In this book she mangles so many American words it’s no longer funny but distracting.
Fortunately the book is good enough to get past it but if you are from USA and the NW be aware. You might want to make a game out of it. Don’t make it a drinking game or you’ll be drunk in no time.

Historia
One of Andy Cohen’s most momentous years starts off with a hangover the morning after an epic New Year’s Eve broadcast. But Andy doesn’t have time to dwell on the drama, as his role as media mogul is now matched with the responsibilities, joys, and growing pains of parenthood. This fast-paced, mile-a-minute look behind the scenes of living the so-called glamorous life in Manhattan now takes firm aim at life at home.

What a name dropper
Revisado: 07-04-23
I enjoyed Andy's first book. Had some fun stories - no so much on his sex life. But now that he has 2 kids - ick. Glad he's successful - he works really hard. But the 3 houses, 2 nannies, constant name dropping - Just too much. And - it's political. I assumed Andy's very liberal. Would have to be stupid not to think that.
But his disdain and really, hatred of conservatives - well, he's just a bigoted man - and outspoken about it in this book. Should be a warning before the great unwashed read his book.
I don't think he knows one conservative or Christian - maybe his mind would open a bit if he spent some time with - well, those he hates.

Too much smacking by the narrator
Revisado: 05-28-19
Great story but Ms. Rosenblat has an annoying habit of swallowing and smacking loudly. I thought they had buttons to kill the mike when they needed to do that but she smacks away.
I like the story, the characters and the history of NYC Ms. Fairstein has in this series.

Historia
It has been seven years since Frank Temple III joined the rest of the world in learning his father's bloody secret: The U.S. marshal maintained a covert career as a contract killer, a double-life that ended in suicide to avoid prosecution and prison. The shocking revelation triggered years of anonymous drifting for Frank, time spent running from his legacy and struggling to believe that the father he'd loved so dearly was entirely in the wrong.

Way too long
Revisado: 12-02-18
I normally love a long book and an 11 1/2 hour book would be wonderful - however this book went on way too long and has too many characters that are tough to keep track of. It started out great - and fizzled somewhere in the middle and never really picked up. So far it's the only book of Mr. Koryta's that I find not worth reading.

Historia
On a steamy August evening, after an exhausting day in the courtroom, Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cooper joins her longtime pals and partners-in-investigation, NYPD detectives Mike Chapman and Mercer Wallace, at a somber crime site. In her ten years as a sex crimes prosecutor, Alex has seen many victims, but few more poignant than today's, pulled from the water with her hands and feet obscenely tied to a ladder. Sleep comes uneasily after such a vision, but the knowledge that monsters walk the city's streets, preying on the innocent, motivates Alex and her colleagues with their sometimes heartbreaking work. Perhaps this time they will be lucky. A "cold hit" will match DNA from the crime scene with a suspect's DNA profile in the police database. Or is there a more sinister kind of "cold hit" that claimed the victims life in this case? Who was she? Her elegant clothes and manicured nails suggest affluent connections, but just how well connected suprises even Alex. Illuminating and inspiring, Cold Hit takes us from the paint-chipped offices of cops and D.A.s to the elegant restaurants of Alex's privileged Upper East Side life. The contrast is stunning, but it's all part of the extraordinary world that author Linda Fairstein has brought so vividly to life in this magnificent novel of suspense.

Worst narrator I've ever listened to
Revisado: 07-06-16
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her monotone is sleep inducing. She's sooooo boring.
Any additional comments?
Grateful this was abridged so I didn't have to listen to Janney very long. I will never listen to any book she narrates. Absolutely no personality added to any of the characters.

Historia
Ten years ago, Paul Giacomin's corrupt father and loose mother used the boys as a pawn in their violent race: Only Spenser could call them off and straighten out the misled teen—almost getting killed in the process. Paul is now 24 and reconciled to his mother's wanton ways. But when Patty Giacomin vanishes, Paul begs Spenser to help him rescue her from the clutches of her boyfriend, a shady character he's sure coerced his mother into running.

Not up to par
Revisado: 06-24-13
What would have made Pastime better?
A more energetic narrator
What could Robert B. Parker have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
It's probably a good book but Mr. Dukes reads it in such a monotone and so slowly that Spenser doesn't even resemble the character he was in previous books.
How could the performance have been better?
Go back to the previous narrator
Any additional comments?
I love the Spenser series but this was just really bizarre. I wasn't able to get into the storyline very easily - I finished it but it was tough

Changing narrators at book #16 is a bad idea
Revisado: 08-03-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
the narrators. For 16 books Gene Engene has been the narrator and has developed the character of JP exceptionally. His skills make him one of my favorite narrators.
I'm sure Debra and Cotter are fine narrators but it was very difficult to listen to them read this book - especially Cotter since his voice is 180 degrees different from Gene's
How could the performance have been better?
Only one narrator. I'm not a fan of multiple narrators. This sounds like old time radio acting out a story.
Did Partner in Crime inspire you to do anything?
no
Any additional comments?
In an effort to be redundant - note to publishers - stick with what is great.
