Best narration of a book I’ve heard so far!
Revisado: 04-04-24
And I’ve been an avid Audible listener for the last four years. Oliver Hembrough is a 10-hour pitch-perfect match for this captivating book by Stig Abell. I discovered this book in a “Literary Hub” online excerpt from “Audio File” designating it one of the “Best Audiobooks of March 2024.” They had me at “Hembrough’s performance captures both the lyrical beauty of the countryside and the intensity of this well-plotted mystery.” I am so happy this is listed as Book 1. Hoping that Book 2 comes out … tomorrow!

The biggest benefit for me of using my No Mess Decluttering Process is not needing to predict how much time I'll need to declutter. Not needing to assess the mess and guess how long it will take to deal with it means I'm much more likely to get started. I know that any amount of time I spend decluttering will make an impact.Take Your House Back is on sale!My booksWant to be a patron of the show? Find out how at Patreon. This Audible is not the full Kindle/Book version.
Revisado: 11-26-23
This short story is beautifully read by the author, Claire Keegan. There are a few minor changes from the 2022 New Yorker print and audio version where it first appeared. This Audible version only includes the one short story “So Late in the Day.” The title of the Kindle & Hardcover versions (128 pages) has a slightly different title “So Late in the Day: Stories of Women and Men.” It contains two additional short stories: “The Long and Painful Death” and “Antarctica.” I do not want to discourage anyone from buying this Audible version. The opportunity to hear Clair Keegan read “So Late in the Day” is absolutely mesmerizing. I just want others to avoid the confusion I went through, thinking that I had bought the entire book on Audible. The titles of the Audible and the Kindle/Hardcover versions are so similar that it’s easy to miss that the two additional short stories are not included in the Audible product.

10 Stars!
Revisado: 10-04-23
Captivating! Of course I started at the end, then went to the middle and ended up at the beginning. Throughout my listening, I kept remembering this remarkable woman is only in her mid-20s. The narration in her own voice so authentic and at times full of pain. I look forward to witnessing what Cassidy Hutchinson does with the rest of her incredibly courageous life. She is and always will be a shining light for our Constitution.

Historia
As hundreds of rescue workers waited on the ground, United Airlines Flight 232 wallowed drunkenly over the bluffs northwest of Sioux City. The plane slammed onto the runway and burst into a vast fireball. The rescuers didn't move at first: nobody could possibly survive that crash. And then people began emerging from the summer corn that lined the runways. Miraculously, 184 of 296 passengers lived. No one has ever attempted the complete reconstruction of a crash of this magnitude.

Amanda and Clay head out to a remote corner of Long Island expecting a vacation: a quiet reprieve from life in New York City, quality time with their teenage son and daughter, and a taste of the good life in the luxurious home they’ve rented for the week. But a late-night knock on the door breaks the spell. Ruth and G. H. are an older couple—it’s their house, and they’ve arrived in a panic. They bring the news that a sudden blackout has swept the city. But in this rural area—with the TV and internet now down, and no cell phone service—it’s hard to know what to believe.

Woodward, the number-one international bestselling author of Fear: Trump in the White House, has uncovered the precise moment the president was warned that the Covid-19 epidemic would be the biggest national security threat to his presidency. In dramatic detail, Woodward takes readers into the Oval Office as Trump’s head pops up when he is told in January 2020 that the pandemic could reach the scale of the 1918 Spanish Flu that killed 675,000 Americans.

Always impressed by the grace of Woodward’s writing and his superb ability to place events in historical context. I’ll be giving this as a history book to younger family members as they grow. Succeeds in the attempt to explain what we’re all living through now. Narrator is wonderful.
