Historia
Many famed music producers are known for a particular sound that has its day and then ages out. Rick Rubin is known for something else: creating a space where artists of all different genres and traditions can home in on who they really are and what they really offer. He has made a practice of helping people transcend their self-imposed expectations in order to reconnect with a state of innocence from which the surprising becomes inevitable.

If you LOVED War of Art/Pressfield, you’ll like this

I’m not a creative type in the traditional sense, but I really Prrssfields books. This is a similar vein but didn’t quite grab me like Pressfield does. Rubins voice is made for audio consumption though.

Historia
At the very heart of all the success and failure I've been exposed to - both my own entrepreneurial journey and through the thousands of interviews I've conducted on my podcast - are a set of principles that can stand the test of time, apply to any industry, and be used by anyone who is search of building something great or becoming someone great.

Thought provoking
Revisado: 05-20-24
Overall good ideas but I found the scrawling marker sound annoying. I’d like Bartlett to write a nuts and bolts book as well, versus overarching strategy. He states he’s started 10 successful startups. How did he choose them? How did he test their viability? How does he budget? How does he manage revenue? How does he test YouTube thumbnails? How does manage an exit? That’s even more interesting to me.

… and now I Re-read it at least once a year! I always find a new nugget based on where I’m at in my life at that moment!
