Eternally Grateful!!
Revisado: 04-21-24
While I desperately wish Al-Anon could provide all their literature in audio form, I am eternally grateful for this one. I started to read this book as a new member of Al-Anon while doing everything else I had to do and living with two active alcoholics in denial and one of them was completely toxic. I got to chapter four where I got stuck from my learning disabilities with reading. Then I found the audio book, as you might be able to see, I finished the audiobook.
I am eternally grateful that they made the book because with the paper book and audiobook I am able to take in a lot more information. The biggest “take away” is that I Am Not alone in the mess I’m in. Others have gone before me and blazed a trail where I can follow. From different genders, and backgrounds, and experiences I found commonality in Every story. And the wonderful pace and presentation by different voices enriched what I learned even more.
If you have alcoholism anywhere in your life even history or even any substance abuse, take heart, we have been there where you are standing now. Go to an Al-Anon meeting and if you’re not comfortable try another one, and another one. When I attended my first meeting, it was emphasized to attend six different meetings to find your home group — the one you’re most comfortable in or attend as many as you can.

We also explore Jesus’ relationship with Israel and our own relationship with our Jewish forefathers. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 571-576. Riveting, Must Read/Listen to Section in the Catechism
Revisado: 03-22-23
Well read, explained and introduced. I always puzzled why Fr. Mike seemed to say the same thing before and after the reading but both are necessary and I am grateful for each.
Pay close attention to this section it’s pivotal in the Life of Christ and yours.

I’m SO Grateful for this program.
Revisado: 10-08-22
I have at least four other Bibles including two study ones with tons of notes, maps and explanations and several study guides to help me get into the Bible. I think that the farthest I’ve ever read by myself was into the book of Numbers having skipped over Leviticus.
It was late in life that I learned that I had learning disabilities and even later my optimal way to learn was to read along as someone else reads a passage. Then only in short segments if it’s difficult. That’s exactly how this program is set up.
Furthermore, the companion book and notebook pulls me into the lesson even deeper. And reinforces the material by encouraging me to write more.
On a scale from zero to 100, where zero is none and 100 is Completely understanding the material, my previous comprehension of the Bible was probably around 8 and I’m almost 60 and a struggling Catholic in the understanding of my Baptized in infancy faith.
I’m on Day 40 in October because I was finally able to start in August, so you can truly start any time. Back to the scale, where zero is none and 100 is completely, I believe that I can say that I’m in the 80’s somewhere because of my disabilities and not seeing the big picture yet.
I Highly Recommend this to everyone even those who’ve gone through a program before because having it read to you one can hear it differently than understanding what you’re reading and the commentary and prayers are priceless.
Thank you for reading this far.
I’m praying for all who struggle with comprehension of reading information and struggles of all kinds. May the Lord Bless everyone involved and trying to go through this and if you have to stop for whatever reason, remember, the Most important thing is when you can, by God’s Grace, continue each time. In the Holy Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Grateful to those that follow.
Warmly,
Anne

Michael Pollan, known for his best-selling nonfiction audio, including The Omnivores Dilemma and How to Change Your Mind, conceived and wrote Caffeine: How Caffeine Created the Modern World as an Audible Original. In this controversial and exciting listen, Pollan explores caffeine’s power as the most-used drug in the world - and the only one we give to children (in soda pop) as a treat.

Curious then Captivated and Fascinated!
Revisado: 08-11-22
I was curious by the title (Caffeine) initially and gambled SUCCESSFULLY on this story which drew me in sensually (as in my senses, not necessarily sexually).
I’m a person who loved the Old program “Connections” which traced different events that affected like a billard ball these consequences that were unexpected.
Michael Pollen, who deliciously reads his work passionately (very well done), explains all about coffee. I was never bored with it, and I’m ADHD. In fact, “Caffeine” was SO fascinating, I forced myself not to read/listen to it Every day to make this Wonderful experience last longer.
As with all my books, I’m always sad at the end because the adventure is Over. Except, Michael Pollen has Other Books… let’s see… what’s next?
P.S. I Highly Recommend “Caffeine”; join Michael Pollen to learn sensually all about “Caffeine.”
