Historia
Who is Audrey Hoedemaker? It's a question her sister Maureen has heard more times than she can count, and she doesn't know what the short answer would be. Little sister, troubled teen, backpacker, musical theatre coach, con artist, childcare worker. Murderer. A tragic, traumatic childhood casts a long shadow on the Hoedemaker sisters. Maureen has worked hard to move beyond the violence of the past and build a good, honest life for herself. Audrey, however, just can't seem to do the same, careening from one state of chaos to another.

Historia
Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

Beautiful story
Revisado: 05-03-25
I read this book years ago and had a lot of difficulty keeping track of the time travel and the difference in people’s ages but this time, listening to it. It was very easy for me to picture and to follow. The story does require some imagination, but it is very beautiful And a love story that we could only wish for in its perfection. The concept of time travel itself is conflict enough, so the author never adds heartbreaking conflict into their relationship otherwise. It’s beautiful, heart, wrenching, funny, and sad. I can’t imagine improving upon the story.

Raw and ver thought-provoking
Revisado: 04-03-25
The story narrative flows beautifully and kept my interest from the beginning. The dynamics of the relationships are very interesting and real. It made me think a lot about loss, parenting, love, and “heroics”. The narrator was excellent.

Historia
On a brisk autumn day, a 13-year-old boy stands on the shores of the gray Atlantic, near a silent amusement park and a fading ocean resort called the Alhambra. The past has driven Jack Sawyer here: His father is gone, his mother is dying, and the world no longer makes sense. But for Jack everything is about to change. For he has been chosen to make a journey back across America - and into another realm. One of the most influential and heralded works of fantasy ever written, The Talisman is an extraordinary novel of loyalty, awakening, terror, and mystery.

Best adventure ever.
Revisado: 03-17-25
I am a big fan of King’s work, but this is my favorite. The main character is beloved and the supporting characters are equally amazing and horrible, each in their way. Frank Mueller is hands down the best narrator of all time.

Multi-layered and transfixing
Revisado: 03-08-25
At first, I wasn’t sure I was going to like this one. It seemed the author was trying too hard with the figurative language techniques. Also, the reader made it hard to follow the segues from one perspective to another. But I soon fell in love with the characters and got deeply involved in the story. I will admit, after it was over, I went back and relisted with the intention of only listening to the beginning to clear up a couple of things I misunderstood the first go round, but I ended up listening to the whole thing over again.

Soul crushing
Revisado: 01-06-25
This is a great book, but hard to read at times. From the horrors of Vietnam to the subsequent bad life choices, to the just flat out bad luck, I got a little mad at the author a few times, wishing that something could work out well for a change! Great story though.

Revisado: 12-11-24
The audience for this series is teen, but this 55 year old woman really enjoyed this book. The story caught my interest very quickly and maintained it throughout. Even though it is innocent, it is not silly. I never finish a book if I don’t like it, and I looked forward to listening to it every day!

Historia
The most popular and beloved American historical novel ever written, Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind is unparalleled in its portrayal of men and women at once larger than life but as real as ourselves. Now best-selling writer Alexandra Ripley brings us back to Tara and reintroduces us to the characters we remember so well: Rhett, Ashley, Mammy, Suellen, Aunt Pittypat, and, of course, Scarlett.

Perfect
Revisado: 12-08-24
I resisted reading this book for years out of some misguided allegiance to the original, and because I was sure it would be a disappointment. I was very wrong. Ripley really did her homework and did a wonderful job of capturing the voice of Margaret Mitchell and the spirit of Scarlett O’Hara. The storyline was definitely not predictable and, without giving anything away, very satisfying in my opinion. I am happy that I now “know” what happened to my favorite character in literature.

Not just for laughs
Revisado: 10-11-24
Leanne Morgan is hilarious. Any woman anywhere can relate to Leanne’s descriptions of her ordinary extraordinary life. In this book, you will hear the narrative behind the author’s famous stand up routines, but so much more. She tells the funny and the sad, the things she is proud of and the things she is ashamed of. Her strong faith is woven throughout, as well as encouragement for any situation you may find yourself in. If you are a fan, you’ll love it. If you’re not a fan yet, you will be soon!
