It was an enjoyable listen. I liked the narration and liked that it didn't reveal the murderer until the end, keeping me speculating through most of the book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

It is rare that a book can make me want to yell and scream at a character, but Cheryl was one of those characters that really made me crazy. Good job on the writing to get me so engaged.

She certainly doesn't expect to find one of the house's previous owners still in residence. After all, the man has been dead for almost 90 years - shouldn't he have moved on by now? Charming Walt Marlow convinces Danielle the only way he can move on is if she solves the mystery of his death.

My idea of a nice cozy mystery
Revisado: 06-17-24
I am enjoying this book and I hope the rest of the series is like this. It took me a bit to warm up to the narration as I sometimes struggled to discern which character was talking. (I have auditory processing issues, so I don't know if isn't just me. 😊)
I really like how the historic references where written in such a way that gave the story depth yet taught us a little something as well. That takes some effort to get right because sometimes it can come across as preachy or feel contrived. I am looking forward to the next book.

Historia
We are raised to think of all the things we’re not. As ADHDers we hear 20000 more negative comments than our neurotypical peers as children (probably more if we’re farther from societal ideals). We grow up hiding symptoms, apologising for ourselves and enduring school and other systems that don’t work with our differences in mind (including our intersectional identities!). We grow up with a damaged sense of self and low self worth. If we’ve grown up with undiagnosed ADHD, we don’t know what’s going on at all and that can feel even worse. This episode shares a bit more about growing ...

Revisado: 01-08-22
I am young in my journey to understand my ADHD journey,, bit have been on a very long Rollercoaster ride of trying to figure me out. I stumbled on this and it became a nice supportive listen for me. There isn't just one thing that stood out. Each topic is so relevant, even if it seemed like it would be irrelevant to me. I had little, and big insights. So many things I had previously heard, learned, experienced, or am currently going through have been confirmed, affirmed, or dispelled. I did a lot of nodding in agreement through most of the episodes. Worth the listen.

Like she's been in my head
Revisado: 12-22-21
While most of the things discussed in this book, including many of the exercises, are not new to me, it was the way in which it was written by the author and delivered by the narrator that made an impact. I have been doing "work" since early adulthood, in some form or another, usually, because someone else could "see" me and wanted to help. I had been introduced to various forms of wholistic and traditional counseling, behavior therapy, and an array of other practices like meditation, movement therapy, or professional continuing education that ended up helping me personally. I've done lots and lots of things with the core intent of understanding why I behave, react, respond, avoid, feel, or say the things I do and why I seem to be so sensitive and overthink, yet also understand that much of those things are what got me here. I would find awareness and then think, NOW, WHAT TO DO WITH it all....
This book, this author, uses language similar to mine and wrote this in such a way that took the past 30+ years of my journey and studies, along with more recently found awarenesses about processes I have yet to embark on and summed them up in an easy to listen to way. It began with reinforcing many things I've felt, understood to be real for me, witnessed and/or experienced, while also shedding light on things I've got to go back to, begin with, or find other ways to deal with them. She has great exercises to help provide more insight on things. She takes in consideration other, outside forces, like race, sexuality, cultural norms, religion, and socioeconomic factors, to name a few, which I have taken issue with for a long time. I can't say enough good things about this book and the aha moments I've had since listening.

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Perspectives
Revisado: 04-20-21
As a POC, I may not agree with everything she writes, but then she is not wrong about so many more things and she presents another valid perspective on perpetuating factors leading to many of the issues we are facing as a collective, as well as on an individual basis.

Historia
Millions of people are suffering from chronic illnesses that, unbeknownst to them, are the result of exposure to environmental toxins and infectious agents such as mold and Borrelia, which causes Lyme disease. Millions. Because the symptoms of these illnesses are so varied and unusual, many of these individuals have sought medical care only to be dismissed, as if what they are experiencing is “in their head”. Many (if not most) have tried to tough it out and continue to function without hope of improvement. Unfortunately, their illnesses are very real.

Fantastic resource and breakdown
Revisado: 12-30-20
This was a great book, breaking down a very complex set of issues so that both professionals and the average person who wants more information, as well as patients who may need it, can read/hear it. It covers sooooo much and makes it more palatable for people like myself, who are both a practitioner and a patient who is dealing with chronic issues. I would highly recommend this for general information on how the body detoxifies and processes illness and conditions.

What did you love best about Literal Leigh Romance Diaries: The Complete Collection Boxed Set?
It's fun and the porn is kept to a minimum. The stories are good. While it drove me nuts how many times Leigh jumps to conclusions and made me want to smack my own forehead, she was delightful. The shenanigans they all got into were amusing.
