Historia
In Mind Gym, noted sports psychology consultant Gary Mack explains how your mind influences your performance on the field or on the court as much as your physical skill does, if not more so. Through 40 accessible lessons and inspirational anecdotes from prominent athletes - many of whom he has worked with - you will learn the same techniques and exercises Mack uses to help elite athletes build mental "muscle." Mind Gym will give you the "head edge" over the competition.

Would you consider the audio edition of Mind Gym to be better than the print version?
I actually feel that I could have learned more if I had read the book.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The conclusion did well to tie everything together. It took awhile to get to that place - it would seem he saved the best for last.
Which character – as performed by Kevin Young – was your favorite?
There were far to many to choose one. Suffice it to say they supported well his thesis throughout the book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. It takes time and it would be too deep to listen in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
This is a good book. Others who I would recommend would be Nerve by Taylor Clark and The Art of Mental Training by D.C. Gonzalez. Similar books and more to the specifics on how to better exercise and train you thoughts for daily tasks.

For those who Compete
Revisado: 08-10-15
Would you listen to The Art of Mental Training again? Why?
It is an excellent work that possesses lessons that will allow me to review and communicate with others and better develop my practice.
What other book might you compare The Art of Mental Training to and why?
I would compare it to Dan Millman's Way of the Peaceful Warrior. It very much has that vibe where a teacher is able to show the path to another. Another book it would go well with is Nerve by Taylor Clark. I have listened to both of them back to back and they pair well together.
Which character – as performed by D. C. Gonzalez – was your favorite?
The young wrestler who is panicked before his match. I have witnessed this so much in others and myself.
What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Art of Mental Training?
Life is only a journey and unbeknownst to us our self-talk is the driver. That voice resides within and moves me in ways that are not positive. Listening to what is said - even in the deepest reaches of the psyche is of value. Changing their message is challenging and vital to being the Mental Warrior that resides within. It's only a journey, be at peace.

Historia
Popular author Taylor Clark draws on cutting-edge research in this enlightening exploration of stress—and how to tackle it constructively. Using such divergent examples as Russian sub commanders and game show contestants, Clark shows that most people experience stress the same way. Those who understand how to accept it without freezing can accomplish what needs to get done.

Have the nerve to listen to Nerve!!!
Revisado: 08-08-15
If you could sum up Nerve in three words, what would they be?
Control, Certainty, Calm
What was one of the most memorable moments of Nerve?
Understanding that we are all human - none of us are superheros. And, there are ways that we can better understand how our minds work that enable us to perform better under-pressure.
Which character – as performed by Rich Orlow – was your favorite?
The author shares many stories regarding individuals succeeding in amazing situations. I could pick an astronaut, athlete or game show contest - all were fantastic stories that provided incite on how to handle certain extraordinary situations. I found myself enjoying the story of Zoe Keating. To me she was the closest example to someone who walks a typical life and who now manages better her anxiety to develop a career that is her calling. This one touched home. She is actually doing what she loves and not allowing anxiousness to derail her was very courageous.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but was unable to. The stories are interesting and because the book is written by a journalist it flowed better than a self-help book. Which it is and isn't because the author is not a psychologist or neurologist he is someone interested in the topic and wrote a book on it. There were times I was listening to stories in the book - especially about the game show contest - and found myself slowing the car down to make sure I didn't miss the ending. Very well done.
Any additional comments?
I coach at SJSU and know that these stories have helped me see my a players in a different light. It is entertaining and thought provoking - I stumbled on it and glad I had the nerve to listen to it.

An Amazing Detailed Account of a Great Man
Revisado: 10-07-14
Where does An Autobiography rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top 5
Who was your favorite character and why?
Only one character mattered - Mohandas K. Gandhi
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I would have selected another narrator. Not because of his skill which was excellent, his ability to read Indian names made it at times difficult to understand. An individual who was from India may have made the listening more enjoyable.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Too long.
Any additional comments?
Wonderful book - enjoyed it very very much.
