Revisado: 03-26-17
What made the experience of listening to The Word of Promise Complete Audio Bible: NKJV the most enjoyable?
Michael York's narration breathes such life in the reading of God's holy word. The background sound effects help the listener to visualize the scenes, and the different actors voices give life to the dialogue and pacing of the Biblical stories. The musical background also gives it a professional flair that makes one feel entertained while being nurtured in God's word.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Word of Promise Complete Audio Bible: NKJV?
Wow, just too many to say. I love the Creation Story, Noah's Ark Story, David's Story, Esther's Story, Paul's Books, and the Book of Revelation probably the most. I've listened through most of these 2 or 3 times. It never gets old.
Which scene was your favorite?
I think the books by Paul probably had the strongest impact on me. However, David's story did, too and the book of Proverbs and Psalms.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Jesus' crucifixion brought me to tears, knowing He died on the cross for my sins and hearing the Word of God with such dramatic presentation really helped make it real for me.

One of the most moving stories of all time.
Revisado: 06-11-16
Where does The Man in the Iron Mask rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
At the top. This performance was extremely well done. The story moves - it is one of Dumas' best works.
Who was your favorite character and why?
D'artagnan, Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and Raoul, of course.
Which scene was your favorite?
Too many - the scene where D'artagnan proofs Raoul's letter at the beachside and gives his critique, the scene where Fouguet refuts Aramis' plan, the scene where D'artangan is in pursuit of the fleeing Fouquet, the scene where the 2 King confront each other claiming to be Louis XIV, the scene where D'artagan shoots at Athos and Raoul outside the Bastille, the scene where Aramis explains to Porthos on Belle Isle what they have really done, the scene where captured Biscarrat reveals to Aramis and Porthos who is father is, the scene where Porthos and Aramis are trapped in the grotto, the scene where D'artagnan runs to the ailing Athos's side, the scene where D'artagnan confronts Louise de la Valliere at Raoul's grave, and the scene where D'artagnan and Aramis part loving each other as 4.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Would love to, but physically can't.
Any additional comments?
Just wow. Classic. This book is a satisfying conclusion of the Musketeer series, but it will be best appreciated if all the prior books are read in order. JUST WOW.

Historia
As part of the d'Artagnan Romances following The Three Musketeers and Twenty Years After, and devoted in large part to romantic events at the court of France's King Louis XIV, Louise de La Valliere is the second part of Alexandre Dumas's 268 chapter novel The Vicomte de Bragelonne: Ten Years Later, which first appeared in serial form between 1847 and 1850.

Sets the background for The Man in the Iron Mask
Revisado: 06-04-16
Where does Louise de La Vallière rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book was a necessary read for me to have a stronger background of The Man in the Iron Mask. Though I love Dumas' works and I enjoy the character of Raoul, Athos' son, this is my least favorite of the D'artagnan series, and I believe my past read of the actual book is what helped me comprehend the complex (and somewhat dry) story line and odd story twists. If you are a fan of the Musketeers and Dumas, you must "read" this book to stay knowledgeable of the more obscure background details of each Musketeer and Raoul and his friends.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Louise de La Vallière?
My favorite scene is when D'artagnan defends Raoul to Raoul's friends who have been teasing Raoul about not knowing who his mother is and thus implying he is a "castaway" child of lower birth rank. D'artagnan defends his best friend's son (Athos' son) as if Raoul was his own. I get chills when see how devoted all these men are to each other.
Have you listened to any of Simon Vance’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. Simon Vance is an amazing reader. He pays attention to details in the dialogue and puts the story first - not his voice acting skills.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The scene previously mentioned of D'atagnan defending Raoul was my extreme reaction because this book has a lot - and I mean a lot of - background details and story twists (location changes, Musketeer-switch-ups, and loyalty changes) - that it reads sometimes more like a documentary of each Musketeers' plan of action kept secret from the other, while throwing in Raoul's friendships, Guard service, and love triangle in gaps of the big story that make for a dizzying read.
Any additional comments?
You have to read it if you are a true Musketeer fan. I liked it strongly, though I didn't love it as I do the other 4 books.

Historia
Twenty years later, time has weakened the resolve of the Musketeers and dispersed their loyalties. But treasons and stratagems still cry out for justice: civil war endangers the throne of France, while in England, Cromwell threatens to send Charles I to the scaffold. Dumas brings his immortal quartet out of retirement to cross swords with time, the malevolence of men, and the forces of history. But their greatest test is a titanic struggle with the son of Milady, who wears the face of Evil.

AMAZING story, DON"T give up due to narration
Revisado: 02-28-16
Would you listen to Twenty Years After again? Why?
Yes, yes! Dumas (and his team) is my favorite author. His talent for story twists, characterization, humor, banter, historical fiction, and plot pacing are extraordinary. I have read this book twice in my youth, and this is my first audio experience with it. To me, Twenty Years After has more character development as our four friends experience new and deeper confrontations amongst themselves - opposing each other, brotherly love, frustration, betrayal, and divergent paths, and a new addition to our foursome. To me, this book actually has more humor than the first - just a bit more thought driven style of humor embedded in the dialogue and syntax of its delivery (akin to the Bob Newhart deadpan style humor). I prefer that style because when the "joke" reveals itself, it becomes a memorable experience, and I find myself exploding in laughter much to the amusement of people around me. I can only point to my headset and mouth the words, "This is awesome!" in my defense to their confused looks. This book needs to be made into a movie, but without diverging from the book - I want to produce and direct it to maintain its purity! LOL. Oh, my friend, please read or listen to this book. If you enjoy swashbuckling period stories, this is a must experience!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Usually I favor the relationship of d'Artagnan and Athos as my favorite "character" but this story had so much development for Porthos, that he won my affections. I also enjoyed the development of the lackeys, and their stronger roles in this story. But, Porthos! Omigosh, Porthos rocked!
How could the performance have been better?
Well, the narration was a bit overdone. d'Artagnan sounded constipated with a stuffed head cold the entire time. The narrator made him sound the oldest of the Musketeers, which continued to mess up my mental images I conjured while listening. I would like a "do-over" for this audio translation. Aramis, well, he sounded like a cartoonish Italian-mafia-Captain Hook decrepit. I usually love Aramis, but the narrator's voice and line delivery for Aramis really interfered with Aramis' role as a Musketeer.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Oh, gosh yes! But there is no way because of its length....which I am not complaining.

This historical romance, perhaps the greatest cloak-and-sword story ever, relates the adventures of four fictional swashbuckling heroes who served the French kings Louis XIII and Louis XIV. Lots of details that help clarify the film
Revisado: 01-03-16
What did you love best about Star Wars: The Force Awakens?
The characters, the speed of the storyline, the action, and the details
Who was your favorite character and why?
Kylo Ren. His development is stronger than in the film.
Which character – as performed by Marc Thompson – was your favorite?
Marc Thompson does an excellent job with the men and the Irish male accent; however, the women just sound - weird. His Leia performance made her sound weak, bewildered, and just odd. His performance of Rey was somewhat better but still grated on my ears. I'd rather just hear a more neutral female voice and let me inject my own feminine voice with my imagination.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Gosh, yes! The details not in the movie........ I had to stop and think and then listen again!
