Predictable
Revisado: 07-07-23
I found the overall story line of this book predictable. I guessed the antagonists at least half way through. It was a little sappy and way too religious.

Historia
The Inconvenient Indian is at once a “history” and the complete subversion of a history - in short, a critical and personal meditation that the remarkable Thomas King has conducted over the past 50 years about what it means to be “Indian” in North America. Rich with dark and light, pain and magic, this book distills the insights gleaned from that meditation, weaving the curiously circular tale of the relationship between non-Natives and Natives in the centuries since the two first encountered each other.

It’s a pretty funny book that covers some pretty serious topics. Would highly recommend especially if you are easily offended.

Historia
Just as Donald Trump's victorious campaign for the US presidency shocked the world, the seemingly sudden national prominence of white supremacists, xenophobes, militia leaders, and mysterious "alt-right" figures mystifies many. But the American extreme right has been growing steadily in number and influence since the 1990s with the rise of patriot militias. Following 9/11, conspiracy theorists found fresh life; and in virulent reaction to the first black US president, militant racists have come out of the woodwork.

Solid
Revisado: 06-17-21
I would recommend this book as an introduction to the alt right. It’s nothing groundbreaking if you have a working knowledge of this stuff but it’s a solid book and I will recommend it to people who are newer to the subject. No complaints

Historia
The internet has transformed the ways we think and act, and by consequence, our politics. The most impactful recent political movements on the far left and right started with massive online collectives of teenagers. Strangely, both movements began on the same website: an anime imageboard called 4chan.org. It Came from Something Awful is the fascinating and bizarre story of 4chan and its profound effect on youth counterculture.

If I could force people to read or listen to this book I would. It has really good insight into what happened and how we ended up here. Please take some time out of your day and give this book a listen. There’s so much I didn’t know about online culture and how we went from chat boards to nazis

Historia
Americans have long been taught that events such as the notorious My Lai massacre were "isolated incidents" in the Vietnam War, carried out by a few "bad apples." However, as award-winning journalist and historian Nick Turse demonstrates in this pioneering investigation, violence against Vietnamese civilians was not at all exceptional. Rather, it was pervasive and systematic, the predictable consequence of official orders to "kill anything that moves."
