Revisado: 01-14-25
This story is very gory. If all you need is yuck factor, this book has it, however, that is about all you will get. There's no character development. Very little effort was put into plot development. The main character is far to badass for the situation he's found himself in. It's far too easy for him to outwit and overpower these supernatural entities who exist for the sole purpose of tormenting people trapped on there. Trapped in a cults compound? No problem. Nick will just kick ass until he gets out. Need that guy's shotgun? Simple, Nick just kicks his ass and takes it. Need to convince Danny the Random Villain Guy to help you when he has no reason to? Well Nick just puffs his chest up and threatens him. Not even the Pig itself was a match for Nick's badassery. This is glorified gore-porn. Nothing more.

Historia
West by God is the story of a young newspaper journalist named Adelaide sent to report on a high-profile murder in the remote (and fictional) town of Targrady, West Virginia. Once she gets there, she discovers the case in question is anything but open-and-shut, and quickly finds herself neck-deep in a mystery that could sink the entire town.

Don't Bother
Revisado: 12-09-24
I don't have words to adequately describe how disappointed I am in this story. The positive reviews must be paid ads or something. I got to the point where there were only 3 hours left in this story and STILL NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. It's literally just a novel about a woman going around town and listening to others opine about the details of a lynching that occurred before the action of the story began. It meanders on and on and never goes anywhere. With such little time left on the counter, I don't see how this story can be redeemed. This is an utter failure in story telling by Tyler Bell. I won't bother with anything else by this author. I'd give zero stars if I could.

A mediocre vampire story. Nothing remarkable about it. If you're into that kind of thing you'll enjoy it but as a story, it's nothing special.

Historia
After nightmares begin in the small town of Custer Falls, Montana, in 1992, it’ll be thirty years before they end. Just outside of Custer Falls, something is sleeping. Life in the small town was never ideal, but it was safe, quiet, and predictable. After Wes Henson and his friends’ field trip to Bloodtooth Caverns, all of that changes. All they did was stray off the path.

Wrong Narrator
Revisado: 09-03-24
The narrator's tone sounds like he's reading a bedtime story to a child. It really takes you out of the narrative, which is convoluted and makes little sense. It seems like the author intended to build mystery and suspense but instead he ended up with a disjointed nonsensical mess. There are too many characters, introduced too quickly without enough development. The supernatural elements feel like an afterthought that was shoehorned in.

Revisado: 07-24-24
Great concept but it never really goes anywhere and is quite boring throughout. When considered as a "sci-horror" novel, it falls far short. It's mostly just a weak teenage love story.

Hard to Keep with It
Revisado: 07-18-24
The author drones on and on about inconsequential fluff while you're just begging for something to happen to move the narrative along. Mostly what's going on is the main character walks around and talks to people and the author describes in excruciating detail what they're doing with their hands or what's going on around them. The narrator even sound bored reading this stuff. If you can stick with it, I guess there's a story in there somewhere...

Historia
It’s 2010, and the recently promoted Corporal Loyette and his unit are finishing up their deployment at a new base in Kajaki, Afghanistan. Their duties here are straightforward—loading and unloading cargo into and out of helicopters—and their days are a mix of boredom and dread. The Brits they’re replacing delight in telling them the history of the old barracks just off base, a Soviet-era militia house they claim is haunted, and Loyette and his men don’t need much convincing to make a clandestine trip outside the wire to explore it.

Historia
Ben Jones lives a quiet, hardscrabble life, working as a trucker on Route 117, a little-travelled road in a remote region of the Utah desert that serves as a haven for fugitives and others looking to hide from the world. For many of the desert's inhabitants, Ben's visits are their only contact with the outside world, and the only landmark worth noting is a once-famous roadside diner that hasn't opened in years.

This Book is nothing like what was described
Revisado: 06-05-24
This description makes this seems like some heist adventure of a woman hiding in the desert with a stolen cello. The reality is this book is about a guy driving around in the desert tending to a bunch of meaningless sub-plots that are all every boring and uneventful in their own way. You keep waiting for the "dangerous men" but they never make an appearance. Absolutely NOTHING happens in this book except esoteric conversations with flat characters who never really come to matter. There's really no plot here. The narrator's droning voice only makes it worse.

Historia
After his estranged father’s mysterious death, Charlie Remick returns to Seattle to help with the funeral. When Charlie, his sister, and their two friends play the records, they unwittingly open a floodgate of unspeakable horror. As the darkness descends, they are stalked by a relentless, malevolent force and see the dead everywhere they turn.

Has this author ever met a 7yo?
Revisado: 04-26-24
This author obviously has no experience with children as the ones in this story are far too articulate, observant and inteospective to believe they're the ages they're supposed to be. Conversely, the adults are unreasonably incompetent. I guess if you want to read an account of a gore-fest that strain credulity to its breaking point, this it it.
