Historia
Who hasn’t wondered for a split second what the world would be like if a person who is the object of your affliction ceased to exist? But then you’ve probably never heard of The McMasters Conservatory, dedicated to the consummate execution of the homicidal arts. To gain admission, a student must have an ethical reason for erasing someone who deeply deserves a fate no worse (nor better) than death. The campus of this “Poison Ivy League” college—its location unknown to even those who study there—is where you might find yourself the practice target of a classmate.

Historia
DeMarco is sent to investigate the death of a reporter, the son of one of his boss’ old colleagues, even though it appears to be nothing more than an unfortunate accident. He soon learns that the reporter was on the trail of Senator Paul Morelli, a rising star considered a shoe-in for his party’s presidential nomination. Some politicians are lucky, and Morelli has been luckier than most, but his past has already been thoroughly scrutinized and he looks clean. But then, why is DeMarco being followed by a pair of rogue agents who freelance for the CIA?

A new favorite author
Revisado: 07-23-20
Dervla McTiernan is getting better with each book and is on her way to joining Adrian McKinty as one of my favorite authors. if you like McKinty and Tana French then you owe it to yourself to give this author a try. The narration by Aoife McMahon is terrific too. Well worth your time and your use of a credit.

Be Warned! Ridiculous plot and unbelievable female
Revisado: 12-25-13
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Painfully bad! This book offers such an absurd storyline that my head began to ache.
The lead character, Clair, is kidnapped, raped, beaten, isolated, manipulated and dominated by Tony, a diabolical billionaire, who utilizes the beautiful Clair as a fashionably attired companion in public, as a whore at home, and eventually in a fit of rage he beats Clair so severely that she nearly dies from her injuries and needs several months to recover.
Despite all she has endured, Clair decides she has fallen in love with Tony and agrees to become his wife. All is well for a brief time, but alas, in short order Clair once again finds herself being totally manipulated and controlled by Tony. Emotionally she keeps flipping back and forth; one moment she loves him - while his eyes are brown, then she fears him - when his eyes turn black. She loathes him, and then moments later she loves him again. Really?
Clair's dilemma is that Tony is a psychopath obsessed with possessing and humiliating her. He monitors her every move and is so wealthy, powerful, cunning and ruthless that he is somehow able to manipulate, control or destroy nearly anything or anyone he chooses, all while maintaining his spotless public image. It just becomes more and more implausible the further the plot unfolds.
The narrator does a good job - but she is working with such unrealistic characters and such an awful plot that her talent is wasted here.
