Historia
Dellarobia Turnbow is a restless farm wife who gave up her own plans when she accidentally became pregnant at 17. Now, after a decade of domestic disharmony on a failing farm, she encounters a shocking sight: a silent, forested valley filled with what looks like a lake of fire. She can only understand it as a cautionary miracle, but it sparks a raft of other explanations from scientists, religious leaders, and the media.

The biology of the butterfly's and the main character coming of age story.

The scientist explanation of the effects of global warming.
What three words best describe Barbara Kingsolver’s performance?
Effects of global warming.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No but I did think she tried to do to much - global warming; the evolution of a shot gun wedding and the coping with poverty.
Any additional comments?
It is a good story but it really could be at least two books.

Historia
In the satirical tradition of Catch-22 and M*A*S*H, Fobbit takes us into the chaotic world of Baghdad's Forward Operating Base Triumph. The Forward Operating base, or FOB, is like the back-office of the battlefield - where people eat and sleep, and where a lot of soldiers have what looks suspiciously like an office job. Male and female soldiers are trying to find an empty Porta Potty in which to get acquainted, grunts are playing Xbox, and watching NASCAR between missions....

The Ensign Roberts of the Iraq War
Revisado: 12-24-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The book was entertaining and had some excellent parts. The pace was a little slow and the ending seemed forced.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I am not a writer.
Would you listen to another book narrated by David Drummond?
Yes. He is an interesting narrator.
Was Fobbit worth the listening time?
Yes but in some ways it was a single point of view book.
Any additional comments?
It was fund but in some ways it was an insiders book.

Tedious
Revisado: 09-03-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Some parts of the book were very well paced but some parts were tedious and not well paced.
What other book might you compare Broken Harbor to and why?
In the Woods which was a much better plotted book.
What does Stephen Hogan bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
He is a good reader and since I have glaucoma reading a book instead of listing to it is very difficult.
Could you see Broken Harbor being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Definitely no.
Any additional comments?
Too many extraneous plot lines and characters.
