Historia
The seminal rap group A Tribe Called Quest brought jazz into the genre, resurrecting timeless rhythms to create masterpieces. This narrative follows Tribe from their early days as part of the Afrocentric rap collective known as the Native Tongues, through their first three classic albums, to their eventual breakup and long hiatus. Throughout the narrative, poet and essayist Hanif Abdurraqib connects the music and cultural history to their street-level impact and draws from his own experience to reflect on how its distinctive sound resonated among fans like himself.

More Tribe
Revisado: 03-05-21
This book touches on a lot of different subjects, unfortunately ATCQ isn’t discussed enough. I was hoping for a comprehensive look at Tribe, and this book isn’t it.

Character is actually named “Ballzack”
Revisado: 03-28-20
It’s pretty good, but the fact that a significant character’s name is Ballzack is distracting and kind of strange. Maybe he wasn’t thinking of the Audible version, or maybe it was intentional...idk. I just keep hearing “Ballzack” over and over.

Man...this will make your next book seem so much better
Revisado: 02-22-20
This could’ve been good, but the writing is lazy. Overly dramatic narrative voice and poorly developed story. Not as bad as a more recent book by this author. Only a teenage girl could really enjoy this.

Historia
Ignorant of civilization and cautioned against its evils, nineteen-year-old Wren and her two sisters, Sage and Evie, were raised in off-the-grid isolation in a primitive cabin in upstate New York. When the youngest grows gravely ill, their mother leaves with the child to get help from a nearby town. And they never return. As months pass, hope vanishes. Supplies are low. Livestock are dying.

This book is not good.
Revisado: 02-21-20
This is probably the worst book I’ve heard on audible. The story is ridiculous, but not in a good way. This author totally phoned it in.

Worth every penny...and I’m a hard sell...

Beautiful memoir with a second gripping story wound through the fold of the original. I will be listening to this one again!
