Historia
When a loved one dies, the pain of loss can feel unbearable—especially in the case of a traumatizing death that leaves us shouting, “NO!” with every fiber of our body. The process of grieving can feel wild and nonlinear—and often lasts for much longer than other people, the nonbereaved, tell us it should. Organized into fifty-two short chapters, Bearing the Unbearable is a companion for life’s most difficult times, revealing how grief can open our hearts to connection, compassion, and the very essence of our shared humanity.

Good but Limited
Revisado: 06-20-24
I liked it enough. The author narration was good. Most of the examples were of child bereavement.

Historia
To everyone else, Terri White appeared to be living the dream, named one of Folio's Top Women in US Media and accruing further awards for the magazines she was editing. In reality, she was rapidly skidding towards a mental health crisis that would land her in a locked psychiatric ward as her past caught up with her. As well as growing up in a household in poverty, Terri endured sexual and physical abuse at the hands of a number of her mother's partners.

Strange, odd and no real conclusion
Revisado: 07-12-20
Good narration and poetic telling of the authors lived experience. As a listener I was left wondering about too many things. The ending was odd and abrupt.

In 1975 Andrew took a shy new boy at school under his wing. They instantly hit it off, and their boyhood escapades at Bushy Meads School built a bond that was never broken. The duo found themselves riding an astonishing roller coaster of success, taking them all over the world. They made and broke iconic records, they were treated like gods, but they stayed true to their friendship and ultimately to themselves. It was a party that seemed as if it would never end. And then it did, in front of tens of thousands of tearful fans at Wembley Stadium in 1986.

Walk Down Memory Lane
Revisado: 02-12-20
I enjoyed the book overall. The narration was pretty good and the timeline provided a walk down memory lane for me. I was skeptical in may ways about the one-sided portrayal of the relationship between Andrew and George, especially when it came tot he break up of the band.

Surprisingly Insightful and Authentic
Revisado: 08-16-19
I wasn't sure at first. This book definitely grew on me and I didn't want it to end. Yet it ended at what seemed the right place. I've read a lot of addiction books and this was unconventional and somewhat refreshing. Funny at times but mostly the strength and insights of Mrs D were what made it a compelling listen.

One phone call. That's all it took to change Stephanie Wittels Wachs's life forever.... Her younger brother Harris, a star in the comedy world known for his work on shows like Parks and Recreation, had died of a heroin overdose. How do you make sense of such a tragic end to a life of so much hilarious brilliance? In beautiful, unsentimental, and surprisingly funny prose, Stephanie Wittels Wachs alternates between her brother's struggle with addiction, which she learned about three days before her wedding, and the first year after his death, in all its emotional devastation.

Unexpectedly good - Sad, funny, inspiring.
Revisado: 08-14-18
The narration was top notch, honest and authentic tone. I was not really expecting to like this book as much as I did. The topic was sad but the insights shared in the telling of this story were real and relatable. How to love someone that causes so much pain and anxiety. Seeing a family member as more than their illness/condition while recognizing that it's normal to hate what they're doing. Ultimately a sad loss for the family but this book brings eternal life to a family that loved each other before during and after addiction took its' horrible toll. Very well done Stephanie.

Vague and boring
Revisado: 05-23-18
I listened to the end but ended up feeling that I didn't really know anything much at the end. The narration was unrealistic and feel it would be more authentic if the author had narrated. I understand that this was intended to be inspirational but there was no substance to it. What did this person do to succeed specifically.

Hello there. Welcome to my autobiography. Throughout this audiobook I talk about my life and work, including Little Britain, Come Fly with Me, Bridesmaids, Les Miserables, Alice in Wonderland and, of course, Shooting Stars. The thing is, this is a bit different to most memoirs you may have listened to, because it comes in the form of an A-Z. Anyway, I hope you buy it at least twice. Thank you.

Sadly Dissapointing
Revisado: 10-12-17
I love Matt Lucas and still do but just did not get this book. There was one really funny and entertaining chapter on his relationship with food but that was really it for humor. I'm fine with a good biography and the lack of comedy in itself was understandable in some ways, but overall the book was a narrative timeline of his career. This happened and then that happened. We met this person then that person and so on and so on all the way to the end.

The whole book could be explained on two sentences.
How could the performance have been better?
The main character narration was horrible, whiney and robotic
