A Book I Didn’t Know I Needed to Read
Revisado: 05-27-19
Clearly explained with wit and sincerity. Mike Dawson has a powerful, authoritative and intelligent sounding tone well-suited to this book. He is in a league all his own. Thanks to the authors for not assuming that I knew anything. As I found out, I knew pretty much nothing about how judges, different types of lawyers, trials and juries worked even though I thought I did. Please write more books. Dawson, please read them.

Ann Rule was working on the biggest story of her career, tracking the trail of victims left by a brutal serial killer. Little did this future best-selling author know that the savage slayer she was hunting was the young man she counted among her closest friends. Everyone's picture of a natural winner, Ted Bundy was a bright, charming, and handsome man with a promising future as an attorney. But on January 24, 1989 Bundy was executed for the murders of three young women - and had confessed to taking the lives of at least thirty-five more women from coast to coast.

I’m glad Rule decided to write this book. She comes from a unique point of view, and shared her reaction to the situation as a long-time, respected friend of Ted Bundy. Even if you have accumulated previous information about Ted Bundy, the offerings in this book enhances what one may already know about it.

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

Historia
Astroball is the inside story of how a gang of outsiders went beyond the stats to find a new way to win. When new Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow and his top analyst, the former rocket scientist Sig Mejdal, arrived in Houston in 2011, they had already spent more than half a decade trying to understand how human instinct and expertise could be blended with hard numbers. Astroball is the story of the next wave of thinking in baseball and beyond, at once a remarkable underdog story and a fascinating look at the cutting edge of evaluating and optimizing human potential.

A great read going into the postseason. Inspiring for anyone who respects those who persevere. Have your kids read this. These gentlemen are role models. I ate up this book in a day. The lessons learned by Luhnow and Mejdal as recounted by the author and the impact of Carlos Beltran on every aspect mentioned getting to the World Series were my favorite parts. It’s not just a sports book. Houston teachers, read this to your students and have a discussion. Use real people, living examples of how to become smarter, have discipline, develop confidence. This book contains this.

Historia
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is the most popular personality test in the world. It is used regularly by Fortune 500 companies, universities, hospitals, churches, and the military. Its language of personality types - extraversion and introversion, sensing and intuiting, thinking and feeling, judging and perceiving - has inspired television shows, Online dating platforms, and Buzzfeed quizzes. Yet despite the test's widespread adoption, experts in the field of psychometric testing, a $2 billion industry, have struggled to validate its results - no less account for its success.

Loved Myers-Briggs Already - Wonderful Backstory
Revisado: 09-15-18
I've taken a life long interest in studying Personality Types. This book is a heart warmer, told romantically. A great choice for those who are attracted to the raising of children, homeschooling. This is the progression of Katharine Cook Briggs' natural interest in her family and children, observational learning of the neighborhood children, and keeping written accounts of all (not just her own). And it blew up from there. I was sympathetic to Briggs' inability to untie the apron strings to her adult daughter, Isabel Myers, yet she had raised her so well that the daughter was not desperate for her approval. I loved that no man could measure up to the ability of the matriarch of the 1900s to speak parenting so fluently as did Mother Briggs. The author portrayed both Katharine Briggs and Isabel Myers as a couple of intense ladies and I loved the depiction. Both of their husbands seemed largely supportive of them through their crazy journey. This book could make a great movie, with Carl Jung, Albert Einstein, Hitler, Jean Piaget, John F. Kennedy, Nixon and the BFF of Isabel in her senior years making their appearances in this story. I'm inspired by the lives of these two women. Narration is excellent.

Revisado: 07-29-18
This is my third book by this author and I do enjoy the writing style and delivery however the narrator left his flubbed up reading in the recording and so I hope he didn’t get paid very much for this or did it for free. I think that he should redo it so that a perfect upload can redeem him.

I recommend this series of books to anyone with friends or romantic partners because everyone can be a better communicator. The experience of this book is empowering. I’m looking forward to other books by this author. Thank you!

Historia
"Everything would be fine if we lived in the same town/state/country" is the common reason many men and women give for a long-distance relationship not working out. Yes, distance can put an enormous strain on a relationship, but claiming that "distance" is the only reason a relationship didn't work out, or cannot work, is putting your hands over your ears and shouting "Land", because the truth is, it's too much to handle.

Honesty and Trust
Revisado: 02-15-18
As fast-paced as relationships are today, the slow courting process is the only option in a long distance relationship. There is much old-fashioned advice that people in real life relationships could really use from this book. This is my opinion (and not the author’s), I would like to add that a long distance relationship is not really a full relationship, so when you finally see the person in real life, I would encourage everyone to take advantage of that double stack of the distance/ in real life relationship and be courted a second time! There is not much in the way of advice when the couple has children. This changes much of the advice in my opinion. If the author would care to write a second book to hone into this area, I think that many readers would be buying that volume as well. Anyhow, great job!
