Historia
In Shameless, Brian Tyler Cohen lays bare the long con of the modern Republican Party. While the radical right continues hiding behind gaslighting maneuvers, artificial slogans, and hollow catchphrases, Cohen’s unflinching narrative illuminates the realities and dangers of the ever-widening gulf between the vaunted Republican brand and their actual behavior.

Excellent explanation of the anti-democracy campaign
Revisado: 09-06-24
I've been listening to BTC on YouTube for a long time. I almost didn't get this book becz I thought I knew all he would say. I was very wrong.... Excellent explanation of the anti-democracy campaign of right wing politicians - and what we can do about it. Vote for Democrats - up and down the tickets. I appreciate that he provides facts for me to bring up when talking with others who are undecided.
His narration is spot-on. His passion comes through on YouTube and I'm known to need to back up and re-listen to parts. The advantage of listening on Audible is I am able to slow him down to 95% !

Real people are giving real hope.
Revisado: 09-16-23
I am so excited at the prospect of having the film "Facing the Wind" come out soon. My husband has had LBD for a few years and I believe that education and community support is key to understanding, getting treatment, and coping with Lewy Body Dementia. I have listened and re-listened to the podcast Lewy Body Dementia Roller Coaster since about month 2. Curry and Linda have created a life changer for me and I believe for anyone who will listen. I wd rate it much higher if that was possible.

Historia
Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

So much to learn.
Revisado: 10-03-18
I really enjoyed Martin Sheen's hosting of all the audio recordings of people who lived through World War II here at home in the US. Their perspective was so much more powerful when heard in their voices rather than reading my many favorite non-fiction books on the subject.

Historia
"That Others May Live" is a mantra that defines the fearless men of Alaska's 212th Pararescue Unit, the PJs, one of the most elite military forces on the planet. Whether they are rescuing citizens injured and freezing in the Alaskan wilderness or saving wounded Rangers and SEALs in blazing firefights at war, the PJs are the least known and most highly trained of America's warriors. Never Quit is the true story of how Jimmy Settle, an Alaskan shoe-store clerk, became a Special Forces Operator and war hero.

Revisado: 08-03-18
I had a hard time stopping for air and sleep. I really got wrapped up in the events in the PJs story. I had a slight idea from other things that I have read but this was the most detailed most inspiring retelling of background, training, and actual experience in the field.

Historia
In 1912, at the height of World War I, brilliant Shakespeare expert Elizebeth Smith went to work for an eccentric tycoon on his estate outside Chicago. The tycoon had close ties to the US government, and he soon asked Elizebeth to apply her language skills to an exciting new venture: code breaking. There she met the man who would become her husband, groundbreaking cryptologist William Friedman. Though she and Friedman are in many ways the Adam and Eve of the NSA, Elizebeth's story, incredibly, has never been told.

Excellent in every way!
Revisado: 07-26-18
Excellent in every way! 1st of all the amazing truth of the story. I devour history books and feel like I know a good amount of 20th century history. I was shocked at all the new information that I learned. I realize much of it was because it was classified as Ultra Secret but some more of it I had just never imagined and had never heard. Unfortunately not shocked at how much was buried and only the male side of it told. 2nd - I appreciate that there was the personal side of the people involved. There was humor and intrigue.
3rd - It was well written and so many phrases were perfect for the story w/ a new way of thinking of the Silent War. I like the phrases that used the language of weaponry when they were referring to the codes and breaking the codes. I really found I had a hard time stopping to take care of other parts of my life that were calling. The narrator was exactly what the story needed. She had just the right voices for the characters and her timing and inflection were right on.

Talk about a paradigm shift!
Revisado: 04-03-18
This book was well written and narrated and a total joy to listen to - very inspiring! A good balance of scientific mixed in with examples. I appreciated his information and especially when he was talking about "behaviors" and said everybody has behaviors. Some people might jump up and down and wave their hands by their face and people will say that is autistic behavior however typical people could do something very similar when they have a winning lottery ticket. I also liked his terms Enthusiasms and Passions!

A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.
