Historia
One day, a cataclysmic event occurs: all of the white people in America walk into the nearest body of water. A year later, Charlie Brunton is a Black man living in an entirely new world. Having served time in prison for a wrongful conviction, he’s now a professor of electric and solar power systems at Howard University when he receives a call from someone he wasn’t even sure existed: his daughter Sidney, a nineteen-year-old left behind by her white mother and step-family.

These days this feels like the only salvation
Revisado: 04-19-25
Freedom- what could it be like? The what ifs in this thought provoking story I think mimic some of the hopes and fears of a large swath of Americans. A fantasy dream for some and a nightmare story for others. Definitely worth a listen.

Historia
Voya Thomas may have passed her Calling to become a full-fledged witch, but the cost was higher than she’d ever imagined. Her grandmother is gone. Her cousin hates her. And her family doesn’t believe that she has what it takes to lead them. What’s more, Voya can’t let go of her feelings for Luc, sponsor son of the genius billionaire Justin Tremblay—the man that Luc believes Voya killed. Consequently, Luc wants nothing to do with her. Even her own ancestors seem to have lost faith in her. Every day Voya begs for their guidance, but her calls go unanswered.

Thorough enjoyment
Revisado: 02-22-25
Lived the characters and the narrator was great! The action and stakes are higher than in book 1. Author ties everything up neatly with a bow! Really wish there was a way to write female characters misgivings a bit less obviously- but I get it for story development. The self doubt got to be a bit much, but that is my only critique. Great listen!

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Kinda sick of the simpering, 2nd guessing heroine trope… but dragons, so it’s still a great listen.

Historia
The Titan Project—an international research station off the coast of Australia—discovers a thriving zone of life in an otherwise dead sea. The area teems with a strange bioluminescent coral that defies science, yet holds great promise for the future. But the loss of a military submarine in the area triggers a brutal attack and sets in motion a geological disaster that destabilizes an entire region. Massive quakes, volcanic eruptions, and deadly tsunamis herald a greater cataclysm to come—for something is stirring miles under the ocean, a threat hidden for millennia.

Loved catching up with the characters! The excitement and science all there! I love hearing how he weaves the supernatural with possibility in every tome! Can’t wait for the next one, that teaser at the end was quite a shocker!

And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

Too much emphasis on character
Revisado: 07-11-24
Extremely heavy handed with making Nesta unlikely- love the series, but her arc was over the top to the point of ridiculousness. Still worth the read/listen and the story outside of her character was great!

Revisado: 07-07-24
What in the world is wrong with the girls? Why so angry all the time? Why Ricky and rude for no good reason? I don’t understand how the story is served but the continued rudeness of the sisters?

What a wonderful start to what has the makings of a great series! Characters are a little narrow still but I’m sure will be fleshed out more in the next installment- enough action and intrigue to keep the reader coming for more

The narrator really takes away from the story
Revisado: 05-08-24
So the narrator’s attempt work through an Australian or New Zealanders accent to affect an American southern black accent is off putting to say the least. This is my only complaint so far- I’m gonna muscle through as I am only in chapter 9. But it’s really not a good fit for the story- imagine Nicole Kidman trying to play Celie in Color Purple and that what it sounds like.
