Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely - I loved the performance. It's a challenging book with many colorful characters and the narrator did a marvelous job.

What other book might you compare The Sea Dragon's Lair to and why?

It definitely owes a little to the classic Twelfth Night twins template... but that's basically just the springboard. If Katniss Everdeen were the lead character in Treasure Island you might be on the right track. It's a big epic tale with wonderful characters and a spunky heroine that kind of reminded me of Merida in Brave.

Have you listened to any of Joel Froomkin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No - but i will look out for more his work. His a wonderful narrator - versatile and he brings great energy to the characterizations. It was a delightful listen and he really brought the characters to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It's pretty long - so that wasn't possible... but was definitely eager to keep listening.

Any additional comments?

Great listen.

Where does Rise Of A Wizard rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Well - it's a short piece - but i was definitely engaged. The narration is lively, with great characterization and strong comic skill. The group of misfit magical friends are sassy and fun. It's kind of a Dungeons and Dragons quest tale with a gay twist. I wish the entire story was available in one long form... but I certainly will look out for the next installment.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the super sassy gay fairy who is still bitter because his parents kicked him out for being too fairy of a fairy. He's shameless and snarky and really fun.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene where they have rescued a sexy knight and he finally wakes up is really fun... the characters all respond in really cute ways and the giant character made me laugh out loud.

Any additional comments?

If you like short fantasy and m/m whimsical fiction, you'll enjoy this. It's well written with really endearing characters and the beginning of a quest that lays out a really great foundation for a future story arc.
