There is nothing good about this book
Revisado: 02-28-23
Im 17 chapters in and not one good thing has happened yet. War. Child abuse. Taking women as spoils of war. Slavers. Whole villages burned or frozen. Suicide. Murder. School massacre. Storms. Human sacrifices. That about covers it. I just don't see where it goes from here. All indications is a war that destroys most of the world. I think it will be humans crushed between their slavors and the dragons.
I give up kn this story. Trying to remember how to return a book. I listened to hundred. I've returned 2. This will be my third. I don't want to hear one more word.

Falsely advertised as a paranormal investigator, Tempest Michaels has a serial killing vampire to track down and a poltergeist to catch...because he’s staked his reputation on proving none of it is real. Helped by disillusioned cop, Amanda Harper, the duo is not only pitted against a brotherhood of vampire wannabes, but also a desperately ticking clock when one of his friends is taken. He’s got all the help he could need and more, though, as his friends, his mum, and his dogs are pitching in!

Written by/for a 12-year old boy?
Revisado: 02-10-23
Seriously, the main character can't decide if he's an adult or a 12-year old. Constant references to tits and "Mr. Wiggly" make him sound like he is 12. The story lines are stupid. The characters are poorly developed. He has made fun of an overweight woman for an entire book. This book is crap.

Interesting story. Great Characters
Revisado: 06-20-22
I enjoyed the entire series. The characters were interesting and well developed. There were a lot of them, so sometimes I got confused. But I would catch up quickly. There were surprises and suspense.
The only thing that really bothered me was the amount of repetition. They explained the same things over and over. Sometimes because it was from someone else's perspective. Yes, we all know that once the fighting starts, the plans fall apart. I don't need to hear it 50 times.

Historia
The Academy of Chaenbalu has stood against magic for centuries. Hidden from the world, acting from the shadows, it trains its students to detect and retrieve magic artifacts, which it jealously guards from the misuse of others. Because magic is dangerous: Something that heals can also harm, and a power that aids one person may destroy another. Of the academy’s many students, only the most skilled can become Avatars - warrior thieves, capable of infiltrating the most heavily guarded vaults - and only the most determined can be trusted to resist the lure of magic.

Well written and unpredictable
Revisado: 09-14-21
I enjoyed this story. I loved that I had no idea where it was going or how a situation would play out. It is well-written and interesting. Just enough description to put you in the story.
The narration was a bit slow so sped it up a little and it was perfect.

Historia
In March of 1926, Daisy Dalrymple Fletcher and her friend and collaborator, Lady Lucy Gerald, head off for several days to a stately home reputed to have the best grotto in the country. Working on a book of architectural follies, they plan to research and photograph it. Leaving her husband and young twins behind, Daisy is expecting a productive weekend at Appsworth Hall, with the only potential difficulty being keeping Lucy from offending the current owner, a manufacturer of plumbing products. Alas, it's not to be quite so simple.

Shallow Story, Awful Voice
Revisado: 08-29-21
I couldn’t even listen to this. I didn’t like the main characters. They were shallow and caddy. Clearly even the narrator thought so, because the voices she gave the women were grading, like fingernails on a chalkboard. I gave up after an hour.

Made me laugh out loud
Revisado: 06-18-21
This is a fun story cleverly delivered. The main character’s logs made me laugh out loud. I’ve read hundreds of books, and I rarely do that. This book definitely has me on the edge of my seat, but the tension was broken with humor. I loved it.

Historia
A shadow has fallen over the Tressian Republic. Ruling families - once protectors of justice and democracy - now plot against one another with sharp words and sharper knives. Blinded by ambition, they remain heedless of the threat posed by the invading armies of the Hadari Empire. Yet as Tressia falls, heroes rise. As war spreads across the Republic, three must set aside their differences in order to save their home. Yet decades of bad blood are not easily set aside.

I couldn’t wait for it to end
Revisado: 05-11-21
The story jumped around and was hard to follow. The reader made it harder because she didn’t make any indication that she was changing storylines. There were too many characters and too may story lines. Most of the characters were poorly developed. Some I never figured out who they were at why they were included in the story at all.
The narrator changed volume when she changed voices which made it really hard to listen to. She also dropped her volume at the end of sentences so I would lose the meaning.
I love long complicated stories with lots of chapters, but this was just a mess. Not sure how the editor or the producer let this book and audio book get released. Very disappointing.

Historia
From the far reaches of the D'Haran Empire, Bishop Hannis Arc and the ancient Emperor Sulachan lead a vast horde of Shun-Tuk and other depraved "half-people" into the Empire's heart, raising an army of the dead in order to threaten the world of the living. Revisado: 08-07-18
There are thousands of really good business books. This isn’t one of them. The author/narrator is obnoxious and he does terrible accents and voices. There is nothing new in this book,or at least there wasn’t when I stopped reading after chapter 4. Want a good book? Try The Emyth or The Lean Start up.

In 1631 Elizabeth Winthrop, newly widowed with an infant daughter, set sail for the New World. Against a background of rigidity and conformity she dared to befriend Anne Hutchinson at the moment of her banishment from the Massachusetts Bay Colony; dared to challenge a determined army captain bent on the massacre of her friends, the Siwanoy Indians; and, above all, dared to love a man as her heart and her whole being commanded.

Revisado: 07-05-18
I'm not sure how it ends because I gave up after chapter 2. The mother is dying, the grandparents are religious fanatics bent on beating the joy and creativity out of this little girl. I just couldn't stand it one more minute.
