Historia
"Life changes fast....You sit down to dinner and life as you know it ends." These were among the first words Joan Didion wrote in January 2004. Her daughter was lying unconscious in an intensive care unit, a victim of pneumonia and septic shock. Her husband, John Gregory Dunne, was dead. The night before New Year's Eve, while they were sitting down to dinner, he suffered a massive and fatal coronary. The two had lived and worked side by side for nearly 40 years.

Real, sad, melancholy
Revisado: 09-09-24
Stream of consciousness for someone in mourning. But I didn’t find the profoundness part as written in the book review. Maybe I am young and foolish. Don’t want to listen to it again.

Historia
Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

Excellent as a free book

Very engaging. I learned something about how data science in weather forecast is valuable to save lives and benefit farmers. More important I had a glimpse of the incompetence of the Trump administration officials.

Historia
Fasten your falx knives and grab the reins of your quadriga: Rivals 2! More Frenemies Who Changed the World is the funniest look at people who benefited the world through their hatred. This audiobook has it all: death beams, chariot races, flaming costumes, ear-munchers, party fleas, and whatever the opposite of epic poetry is.... No fact is too bizarre, no segue too surreal, and no sequitur is too non for this riotous sequel.

A little overdone on the drama than on the facts
Revisado: 09-03-20
Liked the first book better. This acting is a bit too loud. I prefer more background story.

Historia
At once provocative and laugh-out-loud funny, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother ignited a global parenting debate with its story of one mother’s journey in strict parenting. Amy Chua argues that Western parenting tries to respect and nurture children’s individuality, while Chinese parents typically believe that arming children with skills, strong work habits, and inner confidence prepares them best for the future.

Doing what we believe is best for our kids
Revisado: 05-16-13
Any additional comments?
We could argue what's best for our kids, but few of us have the discipline to really do what we think is the best as she does. She is not the type who only pushes her kids but doesn't try to excel at her own job. She is a well-respected Yale professor and loved by her students. In addition, whenever her other family members (mother-in-law, sister) needed her, she is really there for them too. I respect Amy Chua for that.

Historia
This unique book enables communicators of all kinds to think on their feet, even when taken by surprise. It is the ideal book for corporate trainers, speakers, and teachers who do not want to be caught in a pinch. Lowe provides presenters with the basic skills necessary to incorporate improvisational thinking and speaking into their own presentational style. The pathways opened by this ancient theater form can transform a presenter's most fundamental approaches to teaching, training, and communicating.

Worst audible title ever
Revisado: 12-11-03
Frankly this has got to be the worst audible book I ever bought. The book is so free of content and narrator is simply boring. Don't waste your time and money on this one.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It is a truth universally acknowledged that anyone looking for a great listen won’t be able to resist Jane Austen’s delightful classic of love and manners in Regency England. Jane Austen's story of Mrs. Bennet's finding husbands for her daughters is told with wit and charm. A must for lovers of good literature.
