always entertaining

The good and evil doesn't change, which I find reassuring. I like Logan and hope he doesn't change. I really like the occasional flashes of humor.

a typical Jayne Ann Krentz book
Revisado: 05-10-23
This story takes place in the past in California. The female main character is appealing but the male main character needs to be more engaging. The plot is ok, but I couldn't guess who was the villain. A little predictable but interesting.

Historia
The first kiss occurred in a dimly lit hallway on the upper floor of Elwin Hastings's grand house. Louisa Bryce never saw it coming. Of course, handsome, wealthy Anthony Stalbridge couldn't possibly have had romantic intentions. The kiss was merely meant to distract the armed guard about to catch the two unlikely sleuths. After all, the only thing these two interlopers have in common is a passionate interest in uncovering the dastardly secrets of Mr. Hastings—a prominent member of society whom they suspect of murder.

ok but Krentz has better books
Revisado: 03-17-23
The story was alright, but it was too stilted in language. The heroine was overly dramatic sometimes. The story was a bit predictable. The narrator didn't do well with the masculine characters.

Seven months ago, Pallas Llewellyn, Talia March, and Amelia Rivers were strangers, until their fateful stay at the Lucent Springs Hotel. An earthquake and a fire partially destroyed the hotel, but the women have no memory of their time there. Now close friends, the three women co-host a podcast called the Lost Night Files, where they investigate cold cases and hope to connect with others who may have had a similar experience to theirs—an experience that has somehow enhanced the psychic abilities already present in each woman.

Revisado: 03-13-23
The story was pretty good. The characters were congenial and likable. The narrator was excellent. Though the story was pretty good, it seems that the last few Krentz books in this paranormal series follow a similar pattern.

not as good as usual
Revisado: 01-20-23
I admit that I like sex scenes as much as anyone, but this novel was either describing a sex scene or in the minds of the main female and male characters thinking about sex in very descriptive terms for at least 75% of the time. It definitely needed some more fleshing out of the plot and some more action. I found it fairly boring. The male and female narrators are very good.

Historia
During intermission at the famed La Fenice opera house in Venice, Italy, a notoriously difficult and widely disliked German conductor is poisoned—and suspects abound. Guido Brunetti, a native Venetian, sets out to unravel the mystery behind the high-profile murder. To do so, he calls on his knowledge of Venice, its culture, and its dirty politics. Along the way, he finds the crime may have roots going back decades—and that revenge, corruption, and even Italian cuisine may play a role.

good and involved story
Revisado: 12-18-22
Longer than the average crime novel, this book is very involved with quite a few characters. It was made interesting by having the listener share in their thoughts and dialogue, not only in the main character's.
