Historia
As 14-year-old Christy leaves her family's Wisconsin farm to spend the summer at her wealthy aunt and uncle's home in Newport Beach, she hopes this will be the best summer of her life. When she meets surfer Todd with his screaming silver blue eyes, she's certain it will be. But when the summer doesn't unfold as Christy had hoped, she wonders if she'll keep her promise to her parents not to do anything she'll regret. Will she do anything to get Todd's attention, to be accepted, to force her summer to give her everything it promised?

I love Robin Jones Gunn's books. This one in no exception. I read the Christy Miller series back in the 90's, so to have it on audio is fun. Mrs. Gunn's characters are believable and the story line is realistically wholesome while not being too graphic. The only problem with this audio version is that there are several places where there's overlap in what's read as well as some background noise.

I love the characters and how the author develops them. The story line is full of humor, mixed with compassion and craziness.

Historia
From New York Times best-selling author Marie Bostwick comes a beautiful novel of sisterhood lost and found - and of the ways we create the rich tapestries that encompass the past and the future. The economic downturn has hit New Bern, Connecticut, and Tessa Woodruff’s herbal apothecary shop, For the Love of Lavender, is suffering. So is her once-happy 34-year marriage to Lee. They’d given up everything to come back to New Bern from Boston and start their business, but now they’re wondering if they made the right decision.

Thoughtful Story
Revisado: 03-18-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you've already been following the Cobbled Courts series, then, yes continue with this one. The addition of at least two characters gives the series more options for future books.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the character development in this story.
What aspect of Hillary Huber and Bernadette Dunne ’s performance would you have changed?
The narrator who portrays Tessa is a little droning and depressed sounding at times.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I really could have done without the sexually related steamy scenes. They could have been much less graphic and still been effective.
Any additional comments?
Overall, this was an enjoyable book showing the value of friendship and loyalty as well as learning to put others before yourself. I appreciate that the author does not belittle Christianity but shows it to be a respectable position.
