Terrible. Please don’t waste your time.
Revisado: 05-05-25
I wanted to like this book, but the AI reader kept mispronouncing words and the last several chapters appeared to be rough drafts of the ending. Every chapter ended with the main characters being caught, then there were indict chapters detailing the individual characters endings that were different than the several different endings. A chaotic mess and extremely frustrating. It seems that no edit was done to remove all
Of the alternate play points along the way. It read like a choose your own adventure story with no choices, just every option read in sequence. Very disappointing. Please don’t waste your listening time.

Historia
When I arrive unannounced at my husband's studio in need of a shoulder to cry on after hearing that my best student, Alex, has died, I see a pair of wineglasses drying by the sink, and my deepest fear is confirmed: my husband is having an affair. Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house - but I just can't bring myself to do it. Instead, I go home and cook a healthy dinner for our children, walk the dog, and unload the dishwasher without complaint. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own....

I never figured out the twist!
Revisado: 02-28-24
I LOVED this story! It had so many twists and turns and kept me guessing til The very end. I usually know “who did it” about halfway through the book. Not this time! I’m about to start another of her books. I hope I am as surprised as I was on this one! Natalie Barelli has a new fan in me!

Disappointed
Revisado: 12-31-23
The story limped a long then took a sharp left turn at the end. It was disjointed and not very engaging.

Historia
Meet Harry, aspiring tech entrepreneur. He’s a would-be Steve Jobs trapped in a cubicle gig at an angel investor firm, so close and yet so far from his dreams. His marriage is foundering, his career is stalled out, and all he wants is to create an app like Uber, or Tinder, something to make real change in the world, and change his own life forever. Now meet Peter, a deeply troubled computer genius who lives in a basement apartment, chugging red wine, nursing old grudges and writing code. When Harry meets Peter, it’s both of their lives that will change, when they invent an app for murder.

A great short listen!!
Revisado: 11-18-23
The narrator did an excellent job delineating between the characters. This was a great well crafted story with a good twist!

Historia
In retreat from a devastating loss and crushing injustice, Katie lives alone in a fortresslike stone house on Jacob’s Ladder island. Once a rising star in the art world, she finds refuge in her painting. The neighboring island of Ringrock houses a secret: a government research facility. And now two agents have arrived on Jacob’s Ladder in search of someone—or something—they refuse to identify. Although an air of menace hangs over these men, an infinitely greater threat has arrived, one so strange even the island animals are in a state of high alarm.

Good performer, terribly slow story
Revisado: 01-31-23
I’m a fan of Dean Koontz, and I know he can be wordy. This story, however, moved slower than cold molasses. By the time it ended, I was so annoyed that I didn’t care what happened to the characters. I just wanted out!

Disappointing
Revisado: 04-09-22
This had the potential to be a powerful story, but it was bogged down by the author reexplaining every concept every time it came up. I’m reading it, I already know that. It was excruciating. It was free, that’s the only reason I’m not angrier. I wish I could get a refund of my time. There are two more books in this series. I’ll bet that they could have been combined into one good book🤦🏾♀️

He beats a dead horse
Revisado: 07-28-20
Perhaps it is because I listened to these all in a row, but EVERY time we encounter a plot point or character, we have to be given the ENTIRE explanation for who they are or what has happened. This series could have been one or two books if you eliminated the relentless repetition.
