Historia

Hervorragend!

Hervorragende Reflexionen über ein wichtiges Thema! Besonders eindrücklich da von Elke Heidenreich selbst gelesen. Ich werde dieses Buch noch öfters hören.

Historia
Spanning the years 1900 to 1977, The Covenant of Water is set in Kerala, on South India’s Malabar Coast, and follows three generations of a family that suffers a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning—and in Kerala, water is everywhere. At the turn of the century, a twelve-year-old girl from Kerala’s long-existing Christian community, grieving the death of her father, is sent by boat to her wedding, where she will meet her forty-year-old husband for the first time.

Brilliant

A profoundly human book, allowing deep insight into the culture and history of southern India. Following the story of this family was very emotional, captivating from the beginning to the end. Over 31 hours of listening, I enjoyed every minute!

Historia
Margaret Trudeau, former wife of Pierre Trudeau, 15th Prime Minister of Canada, mother of Justin Trudeau, Canada's current Prime Minister, and international mental health advocate, brought her intimate staged performance, Certain Woman of an Age, to the Minetta Lane Theatre, where it was recorded live for Audible Theater. In this "fearless and vulnerable" (Chicago Tribune) one-woman show, Trudeau opens up - with refreshing candor - about her extraordinary life and her encounters with some of the most important icons of our time.

Thank you Mrs Trudeau...

... for sharing your life story and being so open about your struggle with mental illness. Especially regarding the importance of ongoing vigilance with this disease. Very helpful for all with the same or similar illnesses, and a wonderful contribution to remove stigma from mental illness.
I regret that within such a valuable contribution you trivialize and legitimize Fidel Castro, a totalitarian dictator who is responsible for much, ongoing suffering and death in his country. This may be a reality of your past that should equally be revisited. Respectfully CS

PDFs for this audio book are SORELY MISSING!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
It provides a wonderful insights how Paris developed during the 19th century, and the attraction it held for so many Americans of different provenance living there. I was mostly interested in Augustus Saint-Gaudens, but McCullough brings many characters to life: other artists, writers, politicians, doctors. He tells their often fascinating stories before the historic background of Paris between 1830 and 1900.
Any additional comments?
It is a shame the Audio Book does not provid illustrations like the printed versions. PDFs should be a standard, when there are illustrations in print, and especially with non-fiction!
